i don't believe that story. not saying EW isn't an ass, just don't believe he would do that.

I doubt the story, but I don't doubt the comments a few of their fans made about it not surprising them based on their personal interactions with him, and his interactions with the media.
I agree - no more Withers threads. Let it go...

I just noticed this post on their boards -
From CoachingSearch.com:
Texas State: A source tells CoachingSearch that Zak Kuhr will coach running backs and serve as co-offensive coordinator at Texas State. Kuhr coached running backs at Rutgers last year and held the same role under Everett Withers at James Madison.
Zak's twitter reflects this.
Our OC from 2 years ago.
I'll keep our current offensive coaches any day of the week.

Second, if he was still here, no way we actually win it.
As folks said, win-win.
In his defense, I believe he was sold a bill of goods about us moving up when he came here, and I don't blame him one bit for leaving for a better paying gig. Any one of us would have done the same thing. He injected much-needed "juice" into the program, recruited well, and left the table set for Houston.
That said, he didn't have anywhere near the coaching staff around him that Houston was able to assemble. The improvement of our defense from just last year was astounding. No way EW's coaching staff would have taken us to Frisco. Just one of those rare cases where everybody gets what they want.
I said similar to the below on one of the other threads when Wither's 'juice' was brought up. He injected juice onto one side of the ball.
Recruiting & offense: got lots of juice
Defense & ST: no juice for them. If they had any juice when he got here he took it away and gave it to the offense.

Financially he's doubled (or nearly) his paycheck at tx state, while it lasts. I can't really blame him there.
His ego is doing fine because to him fbs is greater than Fcs. Even if it's fbs worst tx state compared to a national champion.
Really both he and JMU are better off now. Tx state is the one who got shafted in the scenario.
*THIS* ^^^^^^^
The AD at Tx. State is the one with buyers remorse. If EW stayed at JMU then there is *no* championship...the talent was all the same...it was the approach that changed.

Withers helped get us Vad Lee...Vad Lee helped us get Gameday...Withers also got us back in the playoffs each year. I'm happy he was our coach for two years.
I'm also very happy Coach Houston is our coach now. This season was really everything we could have hoped for.
Things are very good right now for JMU Football, just enjoy it!

All I can say is the only time I had the chance to talk to EW at a Coaches Caravan, he was engaging, pleasant and willing to talk to anyone who approached him. Spoke to him for several minutes about recruiting, our invitation to the SBC, and the team in general.

It ended up as a win-win.
In checking his twitter account a few weeks ago, he made a nice comment about JMU beating NDSU and congratulated the JMU nation and players on the huge win in Fargo. He also wrote to bring the streamers to Frisco. We certainly did!
That was nice.
