It's not even a week into the transition. A week ago we were wondering if we could get Annese.
The basics of PJs schtick is nothing new. It was just packaged up into language a 5th grader could understand. No sentence with more than 7 words, no word with more than 2 syllables.
Example: "You can never get the next 3 hours back. Ever." Now that is true, but it was not profound.
Now we have a coach with some substance. That is so cool.
This is a dumb post.
Courtesy and graciousness, please.

You brought them up before and now you're pissy that someone called a post "dumb".

It wasn't me, dude, and someone mentioning Trump doesn't mean you have to profess your love for him. That's about as dumb as wanting to transition to a single wing offense in 2017.

RE: Lester addressing football team
I wish PJ had more integrity than he showed by going after the WMU recruits the way he did, in an unprecedented way, and in doing so, knowingly biting the hand that had been feeding him well over the last several years, and leaving a slash and burn legacy. I wont defend that at all. But I will say that coaching is about communication with players, teaching, motivating, rewarding at the right time, and making sure they understand the most important concepts within the program. Fleck used some good techniques to do that. Some of them are taught in leadership courses. He was excellent at communicating with kids. They related well to him, and he was able to get them to circle the wagon as a team. These concepts are solid, as are the methods of teaching and emphasizing them. This is why I suggest that keeping some of those phrases, including RTB. They worked, and should still be used with these kids. No reason not to. Just because we have a new coach does not mean he needs to change that. He can still be his own man and continue to do things which have been working well for several years.

PJ brought more good than bad. As for flipping recruits-I don't like what he did it but they all do it. Lester will flip recruits from Purdue if he can. I know two of them we are looking at. And Tim is also going after recruits that have already committed to other MAC schools.
That's the business, like it or not. In a few years all we'll remember about PJ Fleck was how much he did for our program.

Yeah, for him leaving like that -- not due to a little more $$, but for a (non-grand) step up in ambition bringing in some risk -- late in the season like that, I would have liked it better if he took maybe a player, Maybe 2... but had a transition to have WMU's back so to speak and encourage our team & recruits publicly, etc. It's not like Minnesota's some team WMU plays periodically OOC like Illinois.

I agree to some extent, as I would also say put things in perspective in terms of how it's going to roll. You don't want to be "PJ Replacement" like being dumped by a GF, but your want your new GF to look & roll the same way (great episode of Family Ties exposing this concept). You want to show it being Change (which the program emphasized) plus also, Yes, not just Ditching core concepts out the window either. A lot, IMO, would have to do how it'd resonate with the players there, etc. I'm not in favor of eradicating "Row the Boat" from everyone's minds like that so swiftly, but at the same time, not utilizing it as a iconic mantra with paddles -- and having something else would in my mind can certainly be a Good thing to represent change and another Gear... especially with Terrell & Davis left, and a new captain and such coming up (and obviously, new coaching staff).

Yeah, but they certainly do Not all do it to the extent PJ did from what I've read -- taking So Many on their way out the door. It's going to be like 1 or 2, usually. Sometimes none. That's the rub.

But kind of demeaning in a way to say to someone well yeah we want you to act like a surrogate for the other guy. I expect by the time spring game comes we'll begin to hear some real Lester, and as I recall he did get fired up at times. Want to hear the game voice. The real Bronco deal.
