Its hard to believe the Pierce got no minutes and Rowley didn't get more and Omar is allowed to play undisciplined ball. There needs to be more accountability.

Probably bottom tier mid-level CAA. UNCW, C of C, NE, & Towson are all better. Hofstra has more talent but is poorly coached. Then Elon & JMU are probably 50/50 for us to beat.
Just need to start hoping for the 6 seed.

RE: @Elon
Confused that Shaver gets mad at the starters on Thursday and benches them early 2nd half to send them a message.
The starters then do the same **** tonight and don't get benched... If Shaver is going to be inconsistent in his discipline, then it is no wonder the players don't give a **** about making dumb plays and giving limited effort.

The really real story was Elon somehow only scoring 22 points in the 1st half. Pretty sure teams can jack up half courts 3s against W&M for an entire half and still score more than that against this defense...

Starting Tot would be a good start.

RE: @Elon
Would love it if our starting lineup next game is Tot, Dixon, Burchfield/Pierce, Rowley, Whitman. If that doesn't send a message to Cohn, Prewitt, and Malinowski, then nothing will.

Have never seen so many players regress in a program from year to year than this team. What the hell happened to Omar? Malinowski has completely disappeared. Cohn looks like he is half assing it much of the time. Pretty obvious that Shaver is frustrated and doesn't know what to do to wake these guys up. This season might as well be over right now...they have no chance to beat UNCW in the tournament and will most likely lose before they get that chance regardless. Time for Pierce and Knight to get more minutes...let them gain valuable experience for a future Tribe season in which we don't suck!

RE: @Elon
For the first time this season I have to admit this team is underperforming and underinspired. They do not play as a team. Their defensive collapses, as evidenced last night at Elon in the final 2:52 after tying the game, appear frequently.
Omar, as others have indicated, is far from his level of last season and the season before...he's lost his three-point shot and appears almost totally out of sync with the offense. Malinowski is a non-factor and looks even slow at times. Cohn still gives 110%, but his game is erratic and defensively he's often out of position.
Last night only Burchfield at Rowley played decently.
Pierce had to be either ill or injured not to play last night...Tony often says he needs to play him more.
This team appears stuck at being a .500 team.

RE: @Elon
As I mentioned after our win Thursday against JMU, Shaver should go to a platoon system. Needs to chose a starting 5 and let them know they must hold each other accountable to play Tribe ball or the squad will get benched and the second platoon enters. It is obviously from the facial expressions during the season of Prewitt and Dixon they have lost respect for the coaching style and Shaver cannot get thru to them. Post game interview after JMU had Rowley talking about how the second platoon "respects and trusts the system" and see his eyes wondering over to look at Dixon.
Shaver said in the post game that the team is "tearing his heart out", so he needs to loss his heart and start Whitman, Tot, Burchfield, Rowley, and Pierce plus sub Dixon (for Burchfield to get D or Pierce for rest) and sub Knight (for not just Whitman but Rowley)while letting Cohn, Prewitt, and Malinowski enjoy good Tribe ball. I think we would win more games with no playing time for Omar who lacks respect. If the first squad fails to perform then sub all the new second team.

Agreed if he keeps starting Omar and Cohn.

RE: @Elon
Was at the game last night, first time i have ever seen my team lose @ Elon. Previously I have seen JMU once and Davidson about 5 times win in hoops and the Tribe win in football.
I love the gym, i called on Monday morning and got a ticket in the third row right at midcourt on the side with the team benches. I could hear both coaches. I have never had a seat anywhere near this good at W&M Hall. This is just like the seat i get for Winthrop games.
We make nice drives to the hoop, but Daniel was the only one who could finish. If we don't get a foul call, its no better than a turnover.
Not sure if there is something physically wrong with Omar or if he has just lost confidence. He doesn't look good at the free throw line and he air-balled some from 3. His drive generally looked good, but he couldn't finish.
Kind of an interesting puzzle to analyze, the defense was actually good enough to win last night, if the offense hadn't been putrid. conversely, if the defense had held up in the second half, the Tribe could have won with awful offense.
The talent is there to win more games, but we need more confidence and to get on a roll.
I am always hoping to see the boys cut down the nets, but this year I would be happy with playing on Sunday in Charleston.
OH well, I got to see the Tribe in person and that was worth the trip.

RE: @Elon
4 straight home games coming up. If we can stay undefeated at home, we can still finish in the top 3. 2-9 on the road. Rather than destroy Omar, Cohn, Malinowski and Dixon, I keep hoping we can find their best versions. Dixon is the only player we have that can get his own shot. He is also the only one benched as a starter. He appeared to respond unless the injury at Charleston was not an injury. The team is not good enough or deep enough to give up on Omar, Greg and David either. I sense all 3 are struggling, but we have 4 weeks to try and figure it out. Other than UNCW, every other team looks beatable. So, we need to finish 2, 3, or 6 and take our chances. But, if we don't win at home, we could easily be in the bottom 4 at this point and playing Friday.

Last years team photo with those guys on the front row wearing those butt ugly shoes was a marker for the ego centric, disjointed, semi pathetic, play this year. I know it sounds wierd; but it's true.

That was Elon's 5th home conference game of which they are now 4-1. Anyone that didn't foresee a possible loss here has very high expectations. We have only won once at Elon, last year, and that also came down to the last 3 minutes. The difference last night was the FT line.
We have had two home CAA games. Everyone else has had at least four except Towson with three. We are still in the middle of the pack with most of our tougher road games behind us.
We need some momentum to build confidence - tough chore when your schedule starts you on the road agsinst the top four teams in the league. The schedule ahead though is a HUGE opportunity to kick it up a notch.
Starts with Delaware this week. Let's crush the Hens and get Kaplan amped for UNCW next weekend.

Totally agree with Sitting Bull. We have 7 home games left. If we can get on a roll at home, we can still get back in it.
