I wouldn't say handily, but I think we started figuring out Akron near the end of the game. Guards were sagging off to swipe at Johnson, forcing him to make quicker (sometimes uglier) decisions. None of their guards do anything but shoot, so their wasn't much fear of penetration from anyone other than Big Dog.

Dambrot is a very good coach, and I'm sure he'll see that in the film room. But that same offense won't work again in Ypsi.

I felt just in general Akron become more focused on running down the clock instead of moving the ball around and running their offense. This led to a lot of poor forced shots late in the shot clock. Ivey is our slasher and he battled foul trouble the entire 2nd half fouling out with 4 minutes remaining so that didn't help either.

Ohio 1-0 in the post-Campbell era, beating NIU 78-69. A real nice showing from the 'Cats.

And with that, Akron gains a 2-game lead on the rest of the MAC after only six games.

The MAC has a HUGE amount of parity this season, with the bottom teams having improved (no 300+ RPI teams!) and the upper teams falling off (No top-100 RPI teams besides Akron).

I disagree. there is no parity in the MAC this year, there's 6 decent teams and 6 bad teams.
45 Akron
114 EMU
132 Ohio
141 Toledo
146 CMU
160 Buffalo

202 NIU
227 Ball St
241 WMU
261 BGSU
270 Kent St
275 Miami

compare that to last year-
34 Akron
81 Ohio
91 Buffalo
112 EMU
124 Kent St
136 NIU

155 CMU
179 Ball St
181 Toledo
195 Miami
200 BGSU
203 WMU

much greater parity last year and the lowest RPI was only 203, bottom much worse this year.

interesting scoring stat for Toledo:

Rockets are 3-0 in home conference games, winning by an average of 19.6pts.
Rockets are 0-3 in away conference games, losing by an average of 16.0pts.

no such thing as a close game for Toledo so far.

So far, in conference play. In non-conference, they seemingly played nothing but close games. 8 of their 12 OOC games were decided by five points or less, including four in overtime.

Toledo has 2 on ball sufficating defenders... the rest of the team cant defend players off the ball so we give up a lot of open shots off screens. When teams go one on one we sufficate them and cause turnovers. Not only are we good at home, but we have played some bad PG's at home.
