Still 4-0 in the bottom of the 6th, but Longwood is threatening. Runners on the corners with 1 out. A ground ball right at the SS would be nice right about now.

Also, a new pitcher for the Dukes. Christian Leckert is now in for the Dukes.

Pop out to 2B and a groundout to SS end the inning. Dukes out of another jam.

Longwood has always been a tough team for JMU. Happy for the win.

Only 1 other midweek game involving CAA teams yesterday... Elon (off to a solid 3-1 start like the Dukes) won at home 10-1 over Radford.

Today, Charleston travels to #19 Coastal Carolina and Hofstra visits #5 LSU.

For those who don't have this site in your favorites list, if you like following CBB daily this is a great place... https://d1baseball.com/

Also, there's Warren Nolan's CBB RPI Live page which refreshes based on completed games... http://warrennolan.com/baseball/2017/rpi-live

Oh man, thanks for these links, I have always had such a hard time keeping up with D1 Baseball but never put in an effort to find a good site!

Looking at the next several games we have Wofford, UNC Asheville, UNC Upstate, the ticks, and Maryland (midweek) before we host some games vs. northern teams we should win. What will our record be after the Maryland game heading into those games? It would be great to win 3 out of 5 and continue some good momentum. any takes?

Midweek games are very unpredictable. Not just for JMU, but at all levels. It is when you see a lot of upsets, new faces (often on both sides), true frosh starters, etc.

Obviously, I'd love to see the Dukes win 'em all, but being more realistic my hope is our guys can get 2 of 3 this upcoming weekend in Spartanburg and then at least get a split between the home opener against UR and the roadie at Twerpdom.

So, 3-2 over the next 5 before hosting our first weekend series of the season sounds about right. Would like to see Brett Johnson back in the lineup if possible. Not sure what's going on with him (injury?).

RE: JMU Baseball
Upcoming weekend at Spartanburg, SC...

Fri, 5pm, at Wofford -- Terriers are 1-3 on the season having dropped 2 of 3 at Florida A&M this past weekend and then losing earlier today at Presbyterian 6-1. They gave up 17 runs in their season opener (read: #1 starter most likely...who we will face most likely) at FAMU.

Sat, 12pm vs UNC-Asheville (game played at USC-Upstate) -- Bulldogs are 1-2 on the season having lost 2 of 3 last weekend at Samford. They are playing at USC-Upstate tonight and are up 9-6 in the 6th inning. They will play Dayton Friday night.

Sun, 1pm, at USC-Upstate -- Spartans are 0-3 on the season and playing Asheville tonight. They were swept at home by the Hokies this past weekend. They will host Georgetown on Friday and then host Dayton on Saturday before hosting the Dukes to finish up the weekend.

So, we have 2 true road games and 1 on a neutral field this upcoming weekend. Hopefully, the Diamond Dukes can get at least 2 wins this weekend.

RE: JMU Baseball
Hofstra got its first win on the season yesterday at Nicholls State, 10-3.

A couple of intriguing series to keep an eye on this weekend involving 2 of the better CAA clubs...

Elon (3-1) travels to Clemson
#24 UNCW (3-0) travels to Ole Miss

Dukes (3-1) of course play at Wofford today with first pitch set for 5pm.

Looks like good weather in the Upstate this weekend. Go Dukes!

UNCW will have their hands full this weekend. I went to the Ole Miss vs ECU series last weekend and Ole Miss looked strong against a very good ECU team. Elon will take one at most at Clemson. This weekend will be a nice test for us. Would be awesome to get 2/3 if not the weekend sweep.

Two walks, three stolen bases but Withers gets out of the first without allowing a run.

Josh Wyatt with a solo HR in bottom of 1st. Dukes up 1-0.

While Brandon Withers struggled with the 2 walks in the first, he's struck out the side in the 1st and 2nd. 6 K's.
