It's the nature of the beast. Hopefully Ali sticks with his commitment.

I wish Creighton would do it more, honestly.

I hate this ****.

O/T: But beat the s*it out of the Broncos tonight.

(Reminds me of what long time sports radio host, Ken Beatrice, way back before it was so common, would say about the LOI program. Coaches are almost like thieves they would otherwise steal other schools recruits up to the day they started school. Not a whole lot of morality in recruiting. They needed the LOI program to protect themselves from other coaches.).

He is not going anywhere.

BTW, is this coming weekend the last official visit weekend before the 'dead' period for face to face contacts?

I believe the weekend before signing day is a 'dead' weekend.

I think we lost Jamar Hall. His Twitter now shows him a Mercer commit:

https://twitter.com/jamar_hall

Wow, if so, this reminds me of the kid from suburban D.C. (Md.) that a friend from work son knows who committed to EMU last year and then flipped to Rhode Island (FCS). Rhode Island had a losing record. EMU went to the Bahamas Bowl... oh, my...

Flipping from FBS to FCS. Why?

At this point we should be adding kids not losing them. I honestly thought that with all the publicity re the turnaround and the bowl appearance that we would be doing much much better recruiting wise. With Hall I have no idea maybe closer to home, remember the FCS Div II schools have less strict academic requirements than FBS, there is also now a core requirement of high school classes to qualify. Losing Hall will just push down the MAC recruiting rankings some more.

I've gone back to my list on the other recruiting thread and we lost two other GA DB who we offered have gone to Georgia St. We lost one JUCO de to San Jose St and another JUCO LB to La Lafayette and an OK TE to Ohio U. Very frustrating.

I think we see recruiting from 30,000 feet: "EMU is in the MAC and had a greatly improved record and went to the Bahamas Bowl. Many more recruits should be flocking to us..."

Yet, recruiting isn't a single exercise of logic but the collective results of decisions by many dozen young men.

One (Winston) might get a dream offer from a Pac-12 school with a relationship with his JUCO.

Another might find another MAC school to have a more solid football history (maybe Justin N. the JUCO DT commit who flipped to NIU???)

Another might want to be closer to home (Hall? Mercer is in his home state of Ga.)

Another might wan to join a teammate somewhere.

What I don't like is those players making commits in January and then flipping. When someone is making a decision this late one would expect that the commitment holds.

Mercer is FCS and is in Macon, Ga.

I'm not sure of the academic requirement differences between FBS and FCS. D-II are definitely different.

This reminds why coaches, I think, hate the way folks follow recruiting.

If 10 schools are offering a prospect, 9 will end up being disappointed.

So to get say one commit, a school might be 'rejected' by 5 or 10 other prospects.

Kind of like watching Philadelphia 76ers basketball last year or two, one win and say seven losses out of eight games. Takes a lot of patience to tolerate that.

You know what I've always said about Creighton and his recruiting. This year looks like more of the same.....bottom of the MAC. Unfortunately, with this type of recruiting, our ceiling is 7 or 8 wins, and bowl games, not championships.

7 wins and a bowl game was better than 1-11 though. Glass half full.

Anybody dreaming of championships, or worrying about Creighton leaving soon..........don't.

Losing a kid to Mercer is embarrassing. Just hoping we hang on to Grissom.

I'll comment again on Feb. 4th.........just hoping for a miraculous finish.

RE: 2017 Football Recruiting (Thread II)
For the record we've finished 9th I believe all the previous years. I was hoping for an improvement this year. Its not trending well at this point recruiting rating wise. We all know that recruiting ratings aren't always right look at all our JUCO WRs that came in late last year. But in the case of WMU yes the recruiting ratings were right which is why they've dominated the MAC and competed well against the Big Ten.

I appreciate every single player who commits and then signs with EMU. I think we recruit excellent quality players both on the field and off so my comments above are not an indication of that, just what outside recruiting ratings results are. Loved to see the recruiting rankings be proven wrong and the class better than anticipated.
