Isn't he going JUCO?

(are we talking about the transfer from Ga. Tech.?)

EDIT:

Guess I was wrong. He apparently tweeted last night about committing to EMU.

https://twitter.com/MeikoDotson/status/8...5982509057
Looks like he was at GT for 2 yrs. I'm assuming he would sit a year then play 2 yrs.

Yes, and that is the problem with transfers within FBS.

He redshirted as a frosh, played as a redshirt frosh and now must sitout a year.

His career will be three seasons of playing collegiate FBS FB.

Redshirting in FB is much more common than in MBB.

Welcome Meiko.
According to this article from a couple years ago, he was offered by us out of high school.

One of the posters on the Ramblin Wreck message board said they liked his feistiness on special teams this year.

Hmmm.
@MeikoDotson: I am still going to junior college first, but I'm committed to eastern Michigan.

If that means he can play in 2017 and not sit a year it sounds like a good decision. Not sure if it helps acedemically.

Would've had to sit out a lost year here anyway. Makes sense.

We'll see if that commitment holds up, though.

We'll see if that commitment holds up, though.

Actually, it makes sense if he can do a semester at a JUCO:

1). Plays his 2nd FB season at a JUCO.

2). Becomes a mid-year JUCO transfer (12/2017).

3). Does spring ball (2018) at EMU.

4). Plays for EMU 2018 and 19.

As we know, he'd have to sit out the 2017 FB season at EMU, so why not go JUCO, play a season and then transfer at mid-year so he can do spring ball?

EMU can use the scholarship of a player who won't return to EMU in fall 2017 (e.g., quit, transfers, academically ineligible, etc.). As we know there is always some turnover after say spring ball with players transferring because of playing time, want to be closer to home, academic issues, etc. etc.).

Nice slide show synopsis of the 2017 recruits from the state of MI. Who signed where and who offered them.

Just 3 more years of winning and maybe we can compete with WMU and CMU for these guys.

Will you still be following the program in three years? After your student has finished their time on the football team and moved on to the next phase of life?

Hope so - being an EMU fan is a peculiar brand of Purgatory - can't lose anyone on this journey, and we occasionally all row in the right direction.

Strange, off topic, question?

Good.

As we always say, scholarships in hand are like money in the bank: Nice to have it when opportunities arise.

Walk-on/preferred walk-on. Committed to WMU back in August to play baseball. Strange.
