Alabama to hire Arizona AD... Dan Wolken is hearing Zona looking at some AAC AD's inc

AAC names being floated for Arizona include USF's Mark Harlan, Memphis' Tom Bowen and Houston's Hunter Yurachek.

We talk a lot about coach hires, but AD hires are even bigger.
Are we prepared to have to replace Bowen?

That would be good for our program if they chose Bowen. I think Bowen wants to leave and I think many long time fans would like to see him go.

Bowen has been great for the UofM. I hope he stays.

I would hate to see Bowen go.

But what would be far worse is if Rudd ever gets an offer and he leaves.

Agree on Rudd. He and Bowen have not always seen eye to eye on several important issues. Maybe why Bowen wants to leave-he is very headstrong.

Bowen has seemed to get a lot right.

Agree with posts above on: Rudd > Bowen.

Let Bowen walk and bring back Ziggy Siegfried.

If Bowen goes, we need to be prepared to hire someone who will make the perfect football hire in the next two years.

The AD doesn't make coaching hires here

Saw Bowen right after the Ole Miss basketball game this year and he had no idea we had lost.

He's a progressive feller, that Bowen. Why should any AD keep up with BB.

Their job is to share their agent, deliver the contracts and get 'em to sign on the dotted lines. O wait...piss off the BB boosters and the FB coach goes in there somewhere too.

Seems strange. I have been around him before and he kept asking me what the score was. He asked more often than I, as a crazy fan, was checking it. I was a bit annoyed. He had some of his staff around...I was thinking: ask one of your subordinates to keep the score pulled up for you. But I did get the feeling that he was all about the Tigers. So it could have just been an off night or something else on his mind.

Bottom Line: he's not a politician/people person--the kind whose pores reek of schmoozing. While I can admire that type (cough cough), they do tend to make enemies along the way.

I could be wrong here, but I thought this reigning AD was brought in to clean up a hot mess created by the inequities of BB funding.

OK, so we all agree he was what we needed at the time. ButtTimes change. shrug. And people move on. We are a FB school now and we can thank Bowen, so it is said.

If he leaves, he does so on an almost high note. Big 12 woulda made it higher.

Bowman is the best AD we've ever had. We've had some real losers and lost a lot of ground on our peers from 1980 to 2010.

Do you know much ground we have lost in BB revenue under his tenure? Over $15M per year since he started. That includes required per seat donations for LL/Club season tickets.

Having a subpar coach who is despised by a good percentage of the fan base and who you can't get rid of will do that to you.

Having the same agent as the coach you are negotiating a contract extension with can sometimes lead to situations like that.

Sure he does...for all sports except two.
