BTW: you're going to be able to add the Georgia Dome to the list soon.

Rice Stadium and Sun Devil Stadium have not been demolished. Renovation/remodeling has been done at both, but that's not demolition.

And you're right that the Silverdome demolition hasn't yet taken place; it's supposed to come down this year. If the developer keeps stalling (presumably because of lack of financing for whatever else they're going to build there), then the Georgia Dome might win the race to be demolished first.

The others, and their year of demolition, are:

Orange Bowl, 2008
Tulane Stadium, 1980
Tampa Stadium, 1999
Stanford Stadium, 2006 (replaced by another stadium at the same site, also called Stanford Stadium)
Metrodome, 2014

The San Diego stadium will no doubt be around for at least a few more years. It won't be torn down until SDSU has another place to play its home football games.

RE: Trivia
I'd imagine not since one is in Glendale and the other is in Tempe on the campus of Arizona State. As a bonus, the Cardinals went from playing at one university's stadium to another's.

I thought so! Realized that as soon as I asked.

RE: Trivia
The University of Phoenix is a for profit school which does not have sports. The University of Phoenix is a publicly owned stadium operated by The Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority (AZSTA) which is a corporate and political body having the rights, powers and immunities of a municipal corporation. On September 26, 2006 the University of Phoenix acquired the naming rights to the stadium totaling $154.5 million over 20 years.

RE: Trivia
I'm familiar with what U of Phoenix is! I knew it wasn't named after the city. I believe it's named after the mythological creature.

I know, that was the joke.

It is not semantics because they were different leagues back then (the NFL was clearly superior) and for a trivia question, it left a fun little loophole.

The question could have been worded better. Maybe like this.

Which is the only team to have won the NFL and lost the Super Bowl in the same season, and has never won the Super Bowl in its entire history

Minnesota Vikings.

Correct, however, I did later say that it was a current franchise.
