101-79 final. Great 2nd half for the Owls (64 points) in a game we had to have. We go back on the road now but honestly we have a series of games that are winnable. Koulechov continues to have a super season and is right in the middle of the race for conference player of the year.

Refs were pretty bad both ways. Perfect example was going to a replay with 1:25 to go with Rice up 25+. Grow up

I'd think there are shoes that can deal with the humidity, but then again, some of these players have been locked up by shoe companies since junior high.

Rice is "locked up" by Adidas.

Where was Lott? He was not on the bench today?

I have no idea what went on in the lockerroom at halftime, but I'm guessing that Coach chewed out Jackson, who was invisible and lack focus in the first half (0-1 shooting, 0 rebounds, 3 TO); so much so that he was benched for almost the final 10 minutes. (Note-- he was invisible and awful in last Saturday's loss to UAB, as well.) Different player in the second half as he came out looking for his shot, and took the pressure off of Evans and Egor. Cashaw was also invisible offensively in first half, but was super active on the boards. Egor is having nothing short of a monster year. Unbelievably consistent, game to game. All he did today was put up another double double (26 points, 7-12 FG, 3-4 3s, 15 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block). Nice game for Quez, and great to see Mency getting some quality minutes...and contributing both offensively and defensively. Still too many turnovers, and too few assists.

Critically important win, and have to love the way they went for the kill the final 15 minutes. Onward and upward.

Looks like that 30-10 run in the middle of the 2H did the trick.

We needed to win this one convincingly. Check!

I hope Bishop Mency has "earned" more minutes based on his play on the defensive end of the court during his stints in both halves. It is likely that Chad Lott's absence allowed for most of the time for Mency, but I thought Bishop's performance was one of the most encouraging parts of the game. His scoring was surprising and I would not hold my breath for a repeat performance any time soon. On the other hand Robert Martin still looked lost on the court for the most part. By now he should have a much better feel for the style of game that the team is playing and adjusted to the quicker and more physical game at the college level. It is nice to have so many scoring options that can be mixed and matched with this team, depending on the game flow.

Mencey has always had a above average 3-point shot. His problem is that he is way too passive and tentative in taking that shot-- even when wide open.

My (faulty?) memory of Bishop's 3-point shooting in previous seasons was that I usually cringed when he shot behind the arc. That may have been because he did not have a 3-point shot as good as Jackson or Evans, but he was not a sharpshooter beyond 12 to 15 feet. He may have also been tentative with his shot, I don't remember that aspect of his game.

Mency shot 33.9% his freshman year. Good-but-not great. He shot 25.0% his sophomore year, which is poor. He is 4/9 this year, so pretty small sample. Not sure I consider his career 31.3% 3-pt shooting above-average, but good to see him (seemingly) re-finding his shot.
