I would figure they would only get in big time trouble if they were underage and drinking - after all, that is the worst possible crime in the eyes of our dean of undergraduates.

My son went to Brown and students there vandalized an American flag theme bench my son had built at his dorm. Zeroing out Brown giving was an easy decision.

Looks like streak of consecutive years of happiest students is at risk. Hard to see how happy students can do this much vandalizing. Oh well. I always thought that was a made up stat anyway.

I'd have to believe they just remove the additions. Facilities could scrub everything off the wall for a whole lot less.

If they're spending $12K to clean that wall, they should just clean all the graffiti off while they have the chance. That way, the wall can actually be usable.

When I first read about this, my thought was, "How could they tell it was new graffiti?". Who knows - maybe that graffiti was put on the wall back in the 1980s by an extraordinarily prescient person. Surfing the web, I see lots of links for websites asserting that there's photographic evidence of anachronisms - maybe a time traveller did it! Anyway, if I were one of the accused students, that would be my defense....

One would hope that when the wall segment was initially installed at Rice that it was protected with one of several clear/transparent anti-graffiti coatings -- such as this or this or this -- which would make removing subsequent graffiti pretty easy, I'd think.
