Could Bob Diaco Be a Fit @ Western Michigan?
UConn pulled the plug on Diaco too soon. He had the Huskies bowling last year, earning a contract extension.

Diaco has a history at WMU. He coached LB/ST there in 2004. He'd probably keep the RTB philosophy. While at UConn, he was always coming up with ideas to honor tradition.

Diaco was awarded the Broyles Award in 2012.

Only if he brings his trophy with him and re-starts the War between WMU and UCF.

The 2004 WMU team was probably the worst Bronco team of at least the past 30 years. That one season at WMU probably doesn't carry much (if any) weight with the WMU administration.

I think the 2013 team had that one beat for ineptness

I considered that, but the 2013 team - bad as they were - was surprisingly competitive on the road against a NW team that was in the Top 25 at the time and at an MSU team that went on to win the Rose Bowl. That 2013 team also had one FBS win to its credit (at UMass) and a couple of close losses (CMU and at EMU immediately come to mind).

In the past 30 years, only three Bronco teams have truly been horrific: 1996, 2004, and 2013. The 1996 team (QBed by new head coach Tim Lester) started the season 0-9 before winning at BG in OT and then, strangely, carpet bombing KSU by about 50 points to finish the season at 2-9. The two FBS wins - late in the year though they came - elevate them over the other two awful Bronco teams, IMO.

2004 was a train wreck in every imaginable way. The only victory was over an FCS team (Tennessee-Martin). To their credit, the team nearly knocked off Illinois on the road...and then proceeded to get completely destroyed by just about everyone in the MAC (an OT loss at CMU is the only close game I can remember off the top of my head). For these reasons, I would recognize the 2004 Bronco team as "Worst of the Worst."

We'll see. In the meantime, maybe Diaco can convince Mike Riley to create a new fictional rivalry game with P.J. and Minnesota.

Nah, not irrelevant enough to compare to the ConFLiCT, at least Minnesota and Nebraska are similar schools in the upper midwest. Have him try starting a rivalry between Rutgers and Minnesota and then you'll be talking.
