Anyone think...
That if Terrell and Davis had another year left of eligibility that:
1. PJ leaves for that Minn Job?
2. If PJ left for that Minn job would our current job search be going better? (not that I am sure its going badly... but it seems like we aren't drawing any names that give me any high hopes)...
Just curious.

I don't think that PJ believed we would go 13-0 this season. He probably thought we could win the MAC, but not go undefeated and play in a major bowl.
With that in mind, I doubt he'd stay under even those conditions. In this business you strike while the iron is hot.

I think his loyalty were to his players - those two in particular.
That's why he passed on other jobs if they weren't going to let him coach the Cotton Bowl - he wanted to see it all the way through (for better or worse).

Not so fast. If Terrell & Davis had another year, and with our D improving... and MSU a POSSIBLE WIN -- I think he'd see us as a possible Top-G5 contender. He is a dreamer.
I think with WMU's big offer, I think he may have stayed. Hard to tell. It all depends on how tough of a decision it Was to leave to Minn as it is. If it was a real tough decision for him -- I'd say he would have stayed.

It wasn't that tough. He made it sound like it (decision made on Fri early a.m. which turned out to be total BS). He was out at the first acceptable school/offer. WMU family my butt.

Pretty much this, I think the only thing that made it "tough" was that he wanted to coach the bowl.

RE: Anyone think...
I had convinced myself he was staying and was distressed at the sudden departure.
But in hindsight he did the right thing. Strike while the iron is hot, sure. But more than that, the schtick would not have played as well next year, even though we will be a winner next year for sure.
The whole thing was kind of structured around moving from adversity to a position of elite. 1-11 to 13-1. Rowing. Learning from failure. Getting to a better best.
Next year, although breaking in a new QB (very possibly a BETTER QB), none of that stuff would really fit. So, we had a goal, we got the goal, now what? A different personality might think, OO, now we cruise to several 10-12 win seasons, get a life, get a raise, enjoy life. That's not PJ.
