Tulsa AD on G5 and 'Power 6'
Had a nice conversation yesterday with Tulsa athletic director Derrick Gragg and his thoughts on a G5-only playoff and how he sees Tulsa and the American Athletic Conference's role in the power structure. Great guy who I go back a few years with to his days as AD at Eastern Michigan. Here is the story in today's Enid (Okla.) News & Eagle.

Good for you. Unfortunately, the people that matter have you branded as a G5. But let's pretend that playoff bid is coming instead of just an outside chance that you'll get thrown a bone as a NY6 participant. And even that's only going to happen every few years. This conversation you are having with Dave Ruthenberg is the only playoff conversation that Tulsa will ever be in. So really the key word is "delusional."

Tulsa??? What in the hell have they done to think they're all high and mighty?

Screw CMU for giving them confidence in this delusional "Power 6" mindset. They're a bunch of wannabes. See you next year in the Glass Bowl.

You're not a Power Conference if Every team in your conference would want to jump to another one. That's the litmus test. AAC Fails. 'Nuff Said.

Most of my engineering professors in grad school went by "Doctor". I think it's just a nice title of acknowledgement after 4 years of undergrad, plus 2 years masters, plus 4-6 years for the doctorate.
