Tulsa AD on G5 and Power 6
Had a nice conversation yesterday with Tulsa athletic director Derrick Gragg and his thoughts on a G5-only playoff and how he sees Tulsa and the American Athletic Conference's role in the power structure. Great guy who I go back a few years with to his days as AD at Eastern Michigan. Here is the story in today's Enid (Okla.) News & Eagle.

Thanks for sharing, and for the good press! Glad to see Tulsa getting a little attention out west.

Also, I hope everyone in Enid rides out the ice storm alright!

Good job Tulsa. Let the g4 have a playoff. They can put it on the cartoon network. Have a special about how the knocked of disinterested aac p6 schools in bowls. Maybe have an awards ceremony

I get it the AAC doesn't come close to earning $$$ nowhere near what the self-proclaimed p5 make but I must say, the P6 stickers on the helmets was definitely a great chess move by the AAC.

And we never will. But we can make alot more than we do now---and we can trim the gap between us that P5. Im thinking about 50% of P5 earnings is probably our ceiling.

P6 stickers are hilarious. 9 out of 10 conferences agree.

Go back to your own board. Nobody is interested in what you have to say.

THIS. The only ones who seem riled up are other G5 fans. There's a little more to the argument than stickers. Tv ratings, attendance, budgets, and facilities are just some of the areas where the league has separated itself from the other G5s. Over half the league spent time in a major conference.

Look, do I think the P5 is going to open the door to the AAC? I doubt it. Might it eventually result in a bigger paycheck and some kind of "middle tier" identity for the AAC---yeah, I think it could.

Be careful the g4 trolls will come back and say that we were baiting them becuase we're speaking highly of our achievements as a conference and not embracing their g5 pride lol07-coffee3

They must have an alert system on the G4 boards. Look how quickly a non-AAC poster ran over here to defend their honor. It's the patented "little d*ck" syndrome George Carlin used to talk about.

DefConOne,, those Husky are looking good against Georgetown. I think you guys may have turned the corners. Good luck Uconn and the AAC can use the win. 04-cheers

Looks like the early season UCONN team showed up again. Blown leads and late game, ultimately futile, comebacks are the order of the day it seems. Down 2, possibly 1, with less than 2 minutes to go. 03-banghead

That team fought to the end. That's always a good sign. They appear to be gelling.

The P5 are indifferent to all G5 matters or attempts to pretend they aren't G5.

Maybe a couple AAC escape, others will remain.

Putting P6 anywhere is the ultimate Carlin syndrome.
