The Golden Flashes head to Kalamazoo on Saturday for a 2PM contest with Western Michigan. The Broncos are 5-10 on the season and are coming off a win over Toledo. WMU and the Flashes have identical 1-2 conference records.

Western averages about 73 points per game and gives up around 77. Their leading scorers are 6'3 junior guard Thomas Wilder (16.5 points per game) and 6'6 senior Tucker Haymond (12 points per game). The Flashes will also have to account for 6'8 freshman Brandon Johnson who averages about 8 points per game and leads the team in rebounding with 6 per night. The Broncos go about 10 players deep and have some good size including 6'10 center Drake LaMont and 7 footer Seth Dugan.

For Kent State, its a chance to bounce back from a bad home loss to NIU. Its hard to gauge where Kent holds an advantage in this game other than to say that Western's defense has been suspect all year long. The Flashes will need to find flow and balance on offense and must bring their defense on the road with them. I worry about the battle in the paint against this opponent.

It may get worse before it gets better (and it will get better. Kent will put together a nice streak at some point).

Anyone else not getting the game on ESPN3? It shows it, but there's no link to the broadcast on my laptop. On my tv/roku, you can select it, but it doesn't have a link to play it, just go back to the main menu.

I'm watching a different game. They are getting crushed at the 10:42 mark.

I believe the lead went from 7 to a dozen in two quick possessions. It was something like:
a phantom pass by Edwin, WMU scores a quick bucket. Ridenour travels without even being guarded and WMU gets a 3 point play. Anyway....

Western Michigan is taking care of the basketball (18 assists/6 to) and putting together some nice possessions. They are the more disciplined team.

Tucker Haymond has 30 points and there is still 7 minutes left in the game. That speaks to one of Kent State's most glaring holes. Who is the shut down guy?

Peterson, though, is giving good minutes. Seems to hustle when he is on the court.

To this point, 7.11 left, we only have 4 offensive rebounds. Down 10.
