RE: Kent State @ Western Michigan
Listening to Ty's broadcast, it sounded like KSU fought to hang around but could never get over the hump.

I will leave the offensive strategy down the stretch (feeding the same player) alone.

The trouble today was defense (91 points to Western Michigan...ugh). Looking at KSU's shooting percentages, this loss is tough to swallow. You ain't gonna shoot like that every night.

Poor defensive efforts are a trend throughout college basketball, particularly in the MAC but it is sad to watch a Kent State team give up 30+ to one guard, while his back - court mate hits for over 20.

This is the second straight "middle of the road" team from the West that has stuck it to the Flashes. Its gonna be an uphill battle.

Go Flashes!

We finish the game with 4 offensive rebounds and 5 2nd chance points.

I don't understand why we are so bad starting out second halves. We went from down 4 with the ball out of half-time to down 11 in the blink of an eye. That sequence Fallsdog mentioned was crucial too. Ridenour all over his man defensively, knocks it away, tries to save it back in bounds but throws it past the Kent player right to the WMU guy for a layup, then we inbound it and travel immediately.

Note, 8 minutes combined for Zabo and Avery today. Looks like Ridenour might be working his way in as the PG. He made some mistakes but he was 5-10 with 5 assists to 3 turnovers. Which is sadly one of the better games we've gotten out of that position this year...

WMU went on a 20-2 run to end the first half and start the second half. Ballgame.

We lost but we fought to the end and closed the gap over the last 10-12 minutes. You get a much different feeling than you got Tuesday night against NIU. Maybe the change at point guard will get the team rolling.

Let's hope so - it looks like maybe gone are the days when the MAC East beats up on the west

And if that is the case. great! stick with it. See what happens for the next 5 games. In the meantime, the one that doesn't pout and keeps working gets the backup minutes. I would also say you've got to find a way to insert Peterson for 15 minutes a night. If he's hot, up it to 20 that night. But the guy plays basketball with an intensity that sets him apart.

Yeah. Only Akron was able to get a win today in crossovers. Thats good. Maybe we have confused mediocrity for parity. 05-stirthepot

RE: Kent State @ Western Michigan
14 turnovers for KSU and 8 turnovers for WMU, there is the ball game.

Ridenour can get to the hoop with ease and plays hard on defense, so Rob/staff should stick with him at this point @ the PG position.

Wilder is a nice MAC guard, but KSU can't let Tucker Haymond go off for 35 points and expect to win the game.

Jaylin Walker has a lot of talent, but has to play under control and within the offense and he will become more efficient. I wasn't keeping a tally, but it seemed like he missed 4-5 3pt shots missing the entire rim/backboard each time in the process.

I am hopeful this team will get better as the season progresses, but not sure that this senior class has the leadership to rally the troops and demand their teammates play better defense/cut down on the turnovers. Just not use to KSU giving up so many points per game and giving up so many easy baskets in the process. Senior class leadership/major contributions, tough/hard nosed defense, disciplined on offense, and winning all loose balls is Kent State basketball, so let's get back to that fellas.

Senderoff is 49-41 in the MAC as the head coach of KSU.
