You'd have a better chance hoping for a face to face meeting with Santa Claus.

Carry the analogy. Wouldn't that make it fake news?

RE: Any MOVEMENT/ UPDATE BRING UALR BACK FOOTBALL
It is my understanding from listening to stAte fans that the prospect of UALR bringing back football (only to FBS, or football at all?) is somewhere between...

The P5 agreeing to a revamp of the CFP to allow for every conference champion having an autobid, and...

The NCAA deciding that all conference television contract revenue be evenly divided between the conferences.

My son did for several years!

And I learned to fake it.

RE: Any MOVEMENT/ UPDATE BRING UALR BACK FOOTBALL
I had a retired instructor from LRU tell me that the original agreement bringing the school into the UAF system specifically said no football program for decades, the exact date escapes me but it was almost forever. He may not have known what he was talking about but that is what he told me.

I've heard 99 years. Just 51 more years left.

RE: Any MOVEMENT/ UPDATE BRING UALR BACK FOOTBALL
UALR football can only exist with an agreement from the University of Arkansas, a school that has tried multiple times to force all other instate programs to drop to D2.

Somehow, I don't see them voting for such a proposal. Only way this even gets off the ground would involve the school leaving the University of Arkansas system, and they tried that route once, and it didn't work particularly well financially.

Has ArKansas played their last game at War Memorial yet??? There could be a chance if/when that happens. But it would take local business owners that have lost money due to no FBS games being played in town. Owners with some political pull.

Not yet, they are signed to play there through 2019 I believe.

Still wouldn't bring football to UALR though. Even if there were a lot of big money people who wanted it, you just can't fight the University of Arkansas system and expect to win.

Man, this whole scenario with Little Rock and Arkansas actually sounds really interesting. I'd like to find out more about it, because it just seems CRAZY that Arkansas would be so threatened that they would put in verbiage to prevent them from having football for 99 years.

You have no idea how batshit crazy the University of Arkansas can be.

They have no faith in their own ability to succeed, and are terrified of any type of competition within the state, for fear their monopoly will be ended.

RE: Any MOVEMENT/ UPDATE BRING UALR BACK FOOTBALL
Some history. I hope this doesn't bore anyone.

The school now known as UALR began as Little Rock Junior College and it was owned and operated by the Little Rock School District.

It became a four year college at a critical juncture. Just as the integration crisis was hitting Little Rock. The state basically forced the LRSD to shut down for a year and at that point the district withdrew support for the college and it became a private college. The school had been a very successful junior college program but they dropped football just ahead of the move to become a four year college (two years before). Football dropped 1955, four year program started in 1957.

While there had been off and on talks about making LRU part of the UA system, it didn't happen until 1969 when LRU was on the verge of financial collapse.

So there had been no football at UALR for 14 years and no real move to bring it back. The legend that UA told them they couldn't have it is just legend.

Now would UA demand they have everything privately funded and fully squared away before they would allow UALR to add football? Without question.

So the UofA allows the UAM and UAPB's football programs to exist because they are privately funded?

Neither of those programs are FBS.
