I think this is a pretty cool idea. A college degree isn't for everyone. If these players can earn money while playing ball, get a slim shot at making an NFL roster someday, and get valuable vocational training at the same time... Win. Win. Win.

I wonder if it would have any effect on P5 schools though... I mean, if guys get a realistic shot at the NFL through this league, and get a $50k a year salary. Why not?

I know one former Bama player that received 50K from Auburn and then received 150K from Bama to flip and kept the money from Auburn. Plus he ended up with a used car so it didn't look funny. You do the math. Obviously they are not paying everyone but I see it effecting the G5 schools more at first blush. You might have a Roddy White or a Bryan Thomas go there instead of a UAB.

If the NFL would do something similar (But not that extensive) to MLB I'd be on board.

This sounds a bit like if a player gets tossed off a team for some major reason & can't play anywhere yet isn't old enough for NFL so give him a place to play. I'd also imagine you'd have some hs players that are closer to being ready for NFL wear & tear go straight into it rather than playing college ball so there's be domino effect damage to the smaller schools eventually. Not good for G5 & lower college football but if it's being done by ESPN then that says it all right there
