Big Red is my favorite opponent mascot. He's become a little too much of a celebrity, but back in the 80's when he was unknown on the national stage, he was great. Great battles between him and Bearegard.

You're not the target market. Students are.

I see.

Back to relevant issues, I really hope we beat WKU and Marshall this week. WKU because of how obnoxious a few of their players and their coach acted last season and Marshall because it seems their fans believe Marshall basketball is now the ish because they have a decent team this year. I remember the same attitude from them last year. They're probably the only two teams in this conference I have any real dislike for.

There's a halftime baby crawl on Saturday.

My gosh. Maybe they'll bring Lady Light for an encore performance. Seriously, I guess it's good they're trying to make the games an overall more entertaining event but some of this stuff is just ridiculously stupid.

Gotta keep Johnson from backing our guys down through the paint. Tosin, Cokely & T-Mad will have their hands full with him.

He's a solid player. Lately he has fallen in love with the three point shot which has kept him out of the paint. I personally don't think you'll see him dictate the game in the paint like he did last March.

The guy to watch is Que Johnson. He can drive to the basket and consistently hit threes. He is a put together physical dude.

Same here with the coaches and their families. I couldn't stand to sit near them. That shouldn't be a problem now, since they are at Jax St. now. Lol.

This. Doesn't surprise me that the students would be into it.

I'm a youth pastor, and we were talking with our high school student leadership team the other day about theme nights they would like to see this year, and they went straight for Cowboy/Cowgirl night...like, top 3.

My reaction was the same...What the heck?

But they were fired up about it.

I am a major fan of cowgirl nights.

That said, I have the definite impression that sports marketing is to marketing as sports writing is to writing. And UAB has drawn from the shallow end of a shallow pool for a very long time.

We are unique. No other fan base has ever fought for their program as we did. And Fumbles keeps bringing on marketers inspired by the Flint Tropics.

RE: Know Your Enemy: The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers
As far as arena atmosphere, the best one in recent memory was XCMD year we won the conference at home against ECU. That year the music selection seemed much better, the t-shirt parachutes were a big hit (who doesn't love a free t-shirt and a parachute as a bonus?), and the blimp was great. Seems like it's regressed a little each year after that.

I'm a big fan of Cowgirl myself. Reverse isn't bad either.
