that's what I've found. USually the ones homeschooling their kids.

I'm certainly a proponent of homeschooling. The public education system is a total dumpster fire.

Depends on location I guess. I mean, we bought our current home primarily due to the schools, etc.

Of course. However, much of it has to do with raising your kids in an environment where you know other parents raise their children with similar values.

I agree.

DJT is, Kennedy is. This appointment disgusts me. I think Trump hosted Andrew Wakefield during the campaign.

I think it's likely that thousands of kids will die because of this appointment.

Yep, probably the only thing those 2 groups of fools would ever agree on.

No, Anti-Vaxxer Robert Kennedy Jr. Won’t Be Trump’s ‘Vaccine Czar’
Quote:So without verification from the Trump transition team, The New York Times posted an ominous article about how anti-vaccine nuts will soon be taking over the West Wing. And they took the word of the one Kennedy people actually run away from, not towards begging to autograph the latest Kennedy coffee table book about Appalachia.

How About a Lil’ Factchecking

Had any of the news outlets waited just a few hours, here’s what the Trump transition team said about the RFK Jr. meeting: “The President-elect enjoyed his discussion with Robert Kennedy Jr. on a range of issues and appreciates his thoughts and ideas. The President-elect is exploring the possibility of forming a commission on Autism, which affects so many families; however no decisions have been made at this time. The President-elect looks forward to continuing the discussion about all aspects of Autism with many groups and individuals.”

Now, to be fair, there is a perfectly good chance Trump floated the idea to Kennedy and, once the Trump team saw the huge backlash on social media, walked it back. That’s not a new maneuver in presidential politics. Yet the media should have checked it out before reporting it as fact and even going so far as to call RFK Jr. a “vaccine czar” without any confirmed details.

Let me be clear. Trump should not, for any reason, have met with Robert Kennedy Jr. I hope and pray some smart people in the administration will quickly educate Trump about the truth about vaccines and forcefully dissuade him from making any future statements not based in evidence. But the media’s behavior is just as bad. Making up headlines and legitimizing a publicity-seeking loon like RFK Jr. because it feeds your confirmation bias about Trump can do real and lasting damage.

MSM standard operating procedure now it seems. They want so bad for this stuff to be true they just run with it and hope idiots accept it. Luckily, the new POTUS isn't afraid to call the BS and put them in their place.

I tend to think of anti-vaccine people like I think of anti-GMO people.

I do believe there is a very specific, sliver of a context where they are right: they don't trust the mega-corps who make these things. That's a correct sentiment.

For example, yeah a GMO might be a great thing in reality, helping millions of people .......... but while enriching Monsanto??? No sir, that is a terrible thing.

But you have to look at the total risk picture. For vaccines, it's just a no-brainer. You can't skip them. Foolish to do so. For GMO's, not as a clear-cut if the benefits outweight the risks ... but they probably do.

30 years ago, this wouldn't have happened - not in the same way, at least. Media companies have extraordinary pressure on them today to produce an instant story, with a number of blogs and online-only operations competing with them. I think that reduces editorial control and constraint plus reasonable fact-checking.

I think there is polemical bias, but I think the structural bias of the internet age is far, far stronger.

God forbid companies make a product for helping millions of people. I'm sure you're much more comfortable if they only make profits when millions of people are harmed... it feeds your confirmation bias, which is more important than the welfare of millions of people.

I think Bison's problem is that no company should ever make a profit doing anything.

That's actually terrifying if one thinks about the implications of such thinking.

I think this group of idiots crosses to both crazy left and right wingers. The key word in there is crazy. There are the crazy lefty hippy types who don't do it and then there are the crazy right wing conspiracy theorist who think anything the government says is a lie type that don't do it. You don't have to look long on info wars to find Alex Jones and company pushing not vaccinating your kids.

Not always lefties. There was a couple in my Sunday school class who did home births, home schools, no family planning and they didn't vaccine. They were very, very conservative. Not Jim Bob Duggar conservative, but not far off.

Any American parent that does not immunize their child to things like measles and polio is a poor member of society, regardless of party affiliation. There may be exceptions for certain immune system related conditions, but a Mom or Dad that hates when baby gets a needle does not qualify as one.

Big Ag businesses are some of the most evil in the world. The amount of profit they've made by poisoning people is disgusting.

Feel free to worship profit, if you must. But you aren't going to get me into your cult.

Any proof to back any of that up? BTW, if they went out of business, folks would just complain about the jobs lost. So, there really is no satisfying some people. Some people just look for stuff to complain about. There are ways to avoid eating GMO if one wants too, but IMO, it's more about complaining than anything else.

Not sure who they're poisoning but they sure are feeding a hell of a lot of people. Complaining on a full belly is easy. Be a lot harder to climb up on that soapbox while starving.
