And when I used the term "most", that means more than half, and I think, without doing the math, that that's likely accurate. No doubt other freshmen we've had have had some, and greater, opportunities. Quite often because they were on weaker teams.
For every Mike Smith, Tirade, or Sheldon Cooley, there's a Shaun Keaton, Tayloe Taylor, Keeton Brooks, Dante Williams, Greg Surmacz, Bruce Grimm (my favorite), Isaac Potter, or Lukas Poderis - to name just a few. Oh, and by the way, Tommy Hubbard played a *total* of 117 minutes his freshman year, which is 4.9 min/game. I knew when you listed him that was wrong. I'm not going to take the time to look them all up, but I don't think my statement was technically incorrect. That said, again, point taken.
I'm not trying to say Williams is the second coming of anybody. He's just a good, solid freshman, who brings something that Petey didn't. The way Miller put bodies on Williams showed me he'd scouted him and didn't want him loose. And with Bradford, Merriweather, and Cromer, getting a "start" for him would likely require one of those 3 to be injured, so that's not a fair metric to compare him with those others, or with most of them.
Well yeah I figured you would use the 50/50 and I was right.
I would like to point out that Taylor played 20 minutes a game as a freshman and started 28 games and Lucas played about 9-10 minutes a game.

No, Tayloe Taylor, in 2005-6, his freshman year, played a total of 171 minutes, averaging 8.5 min/game, according to ESPN. According to ETSU's stats, he averaged 8.6, and started *0* games. Don't know where you got the 20 and 28. Usually your memory is quite a bit better than that.
And what's wrong with using 50/50? After all, that's what the word "most" means. I'd actually, if I thought about it, and dug up all the 'failed' freshmen in the last 20 years, would say he's done more than probably 70-80% of them. And this year's only a little more than half over.

Can't we simply be happy that we have a true freshman that is a contributor on a deep team? As we graduate our entire team over the next 2 seasons, Williams' development will be critical to this team.

Well, sure - altho of course I can't speak for Rod. We're cool - I think. We tend to agree "most" (lol) of the time. Virtually always, when Rod and I disagree, it's at the margin. Least that's the way I see it....

We did not choke that game. And the reason more fans come sometimes is when the better teams are our opponents. With better opponents, there are going to be more losses. That's how that works.
Little late on the post but Lol. Choke? Absurd (thats all the energy I'll give to that).... UNCG played well, seemed to make every shot, credit to them. ETSU has a tough stretch coming up and will need to take 3 of the 4, if not all of them to stay in the hunt for a regular season title, which will be important seeing that Citadel, VMI, nor WCarolina will have any chance of beating the Bucs in Asheville. Thus making the 1seed important to guarantee a pass to the semis
