With the college football season coming to a close Monday night, oddsmakers have already begun designating favorites for next year's champion, and Louisville, armed with reigning Heisman winner Lamar Jackson, is among the handful of top options.
The Cardinals are tied with Michigan and LSU as 12-1 sixth choices to win the 2018 College Football Championship game, according to Las Vegas' Westgate Superbook. Those odds would be in line with U of L starting with a top-10 preseason ranking. U of L's odds have already gotten longer in two days. The Cards opened at 10-1 on Saturday.
Alabama is the 3-1 favorite to win next season's title, according to the Superbook, followed by Florida State (7-1), Oklahoma (8-1), Ohio State (8-1) and Southern California (8-1).
After U of L, Michigan and LSU, it's Clemson at 18-1, Texas at 25-1 and Oklahoma State, Penn State and Auburn all at 30-1.
Kentucky and Indiana are both 500-1 after opening at 300-1 Saturday. Western Kentucky is 1,000-1. Purdue, under former WKU coach Jeff Brohm and which will open the season against U of L, is also 1,000-1.
