In the final AP poll, this is the first time.

Wow, what a crazy season. After that horrible start I would have never guessed we would have a Rose Bowl victory let alone a top 3 finish.

America seems to be getting dumber.
USC #3. OU ahead of Ohio St. One of the more idiotic final polls ever.

Hard to disagree with any of that above. USC at #3 is ridiculous.

Auburn being Top 25 is a complete farce.

Two Pac-12 schools in the top 5. Nice!
Although having USC at #3 is too high. Maybe Oklahoma but after #1 and #2 there's no agreement who's #3.

USC is on a nine game winning streak and beat the current #4 & #7 teams. Being ranked #3 is completely justified, I think too many people put stock into W/L records.
USC would be favored to beat any team not named Clemson or Alabama right now.

Which unranked teams do you think would be favored against Auburn?

Well, there's "How Good Are They?" vs "What Spot Have They Earned?"
In the former, yeah, USC being #3 isn't so wild. In the latter, USC needs to drop a couple spots.

Kansas State and Auburn should be swapped.
Kansas State went 9-4 with 4 top 20 losses to Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Stanford & West Virginia. Clean 5-0 sweep of the Texas 5.

You could make a case for any of the 3-6 teams at #3, which is reflected by how close the vote totals were. USC has two top 10 wins and 3 top 25 wins, finished very strong, and played an extremely tough schedule. Each of the 3 teams that beat them is ranked in the final ranking. Ohio State is being punished too much by the voters for the poor showing against Clemson; based on their season as a whole and their quality wins they should be higher than #6.

I wouldn't have a problem with K State being in the Top 25. But I'm not sure it's Auburn they should replace. San Diego State didn't impress me all that much. The point is, Auburn being there isn't much of a stretch. It certainly isn't a farce.

They should be #3. They beat OU, Michigan and Wisconsin and dominated Penn St. for 3.5 quarters before falling apart and losing close at the end. Only losses were to Clemson and PSU. I think only Clemson also has 3 top 10 wins-Alabama, Ohio St. and FSU.
And there are only 7 teams with 2 losses or less this year-Clemson, Alabama and W. Michigan with 1, Ohio St., Washington, Oklahoma and South Florida with 2.
Wisconsin is too high. They lost to Ohio St., Michigan and Penn St., yet are rated ahead of Michigan who went 2-1 vs. the same group.

RE: Final AP top 25
I find it odd that you play an entire season's worth of football, have a committee spend countless hours to select the 4 "best" teams and then one game later totally reverse course and change the rankings (and yes, I know the AP poll is different than the committee). In fact, the AP still had Ohio State at #2 in the nation before the bowls. Now they're #6, including being placed behind a team they beat by 21 on the road. All because they lost to the national champion and the team they beat got to play the 5th or 6th best team in the SEC. That makes complete sense!
Let's face facts, it's just another list of teams by losses. There's no real thought to these "rankings"

It's definitely a crapshoot.
Based on this list, turns out NIU played 3 ranked teams without any "P5" schools on the schedule. That doesn't happen much.

Seriously, would anyone favor WKU, Georgia Tech, Air Force, Iowa, or Tulsa over Auburn? Those are most of the next teams in.
Again, people need to put less stock into W/L records and actually watch the games. LSU also would probably be favored by two touchdowns against all the teams like WVU that have a better record and are ranked below them.
