The lack of the Bama passing game was the difference. How many passes did Bama complete past 3 yards of the line of scrimmage for the entire game. I think that number can be counted on one hand.

It almost appeared to me that Hurts had been coached not to throw to a WR unless he was wide open. Practically, the only passes he threw all night were safe passes either into the flat or on fly patterns down the sidelines.

RE: Suck it, Saban
Saban is one of the last of the "old skool" coaches (kinda like the rich man's Pappy Buttermilk), and he can still live in the 60's since he can recruit 100 5 star players. Most other schools have moved on because they had to...

Bama has at least 30 paid "analysts" who scout, recruit and spy for Saban during the season, while schools like USM can't even afford their "regular" corches, much less "analysts"..03-lmfao

Besides, did he look like the "greatest coach of all time" last night? Not sayin' he's chopped livah, but some of the Nick Satan-love is a little premature (Rats...shouldn't mention that word at my age!04-cheers).

He's just compared to totally incompetent head coaches such as Shula, Curry and DuBose, so he looks like Rockne/Belichick/Lombardi combined!

Fun fact: Saban has as many undefeated seasons as Chizik and Coker.

Are we really trash-talking one of the best college football coaches of all time? Like, really? It's possible to lose at Alabama. Plenty of coaches have done it. If I could go to the playoffs every year and win it every other, I sure wouldn't complain one bit about our coaching. And I surely wouldn't say he was overrated. Some people just hate Alabama so much they put on some golden glasses and refuse to acknowledge anything.

...and I "said" he looks like the 2nd and 3rd coming of Brer Bryant compared to the horrible Crimson Tide coaches he followed.

Lastly---Good gosh man, of course any of us would love to make the playoffs every year (how 'bout ONE year?)......as for complaining, have you heard or read the Bama "faithful's" post mortem musings? You'd think Satan hadn't won a game ALL YEAR LONG!!!04-cheers

No doubt Saban is a great coach, but not perfect. One of the reason he lost is his antiquated offense. He takes his 4 and 5 star players and just plays old style run over you offense. Works most of the time. His offense ran into a good D last night and his weakness showed.

One of the things they said about Bear Bryant is that he could take his and beat yours. And then he could take yours and beat his. Don't think Saban could do that. One of the things he does at Bama is he just wins on superior talent. But like I said, he is a very good coach.

You can say whatever you want about Bear Bryant and I'm sure he was a great coach. But give Bear Bryant USM's talent and any decent coach Bama's talent. The Bear would get his arse whipped.

..good coach...great recruiter.....he tried for years to keep away from "popcorn football" as he called it....but he gave in this year with that hurry up crap...some of you obviously didn't watch the Washington semi-final game....He and Lane ran that hurry up crap for the first 3 quarters.

Yep...I've never ascribed to the "take your'ns and beat our'ns" bullshat, be it Brer Bryant or anyone..

Knew a young H.S. coach one time, who won won won at some smaller schools and got a name for hisself, then went to a big city school (when big city schools were THE place to BE), stunk the place up big time, and practically "rurn't" his career.

He told me, "I thought I was a great coach, winning all those games, 'til I went to that 6A school where the cupboard was bare, and realized WITHOUT TALENT, NO ONE is a great coach!" 04-cheers

...There's a old saying..."the smaller the man, the bigger the ego"....and Saban should have smoothed over the stupid crap with kiffen instead of acting like a ginormous rectum and firing him like that and handing over calling a National Championship game with 10 days notice to a guy who hadn't called a play all year.......karma is real and it bit little Nick in the worst way possible...he lost the game with 1 second left.

a little dabo do ya!

I know some very recently former players of his....publicly they all love him; privately they despise the man as a person/human being (they do love the University so that's why they are not open to dissing him publicly - at least that's what I was told). I believe he's an excellent football mind otherwise he wouldn't have that case full of rings. With all that said, I don't think it was Kiffin/Sarkisian hoopla that lost the game - I think it was the broken leg of Scarborough. Still, that just evens things out with Alabama national titles .... won one because of injury and lost one because of injury (v Texas with Colt McCoy carving their ass up until he got hurt midway through first half).

Their next child was a boy and, sure enough, his name was Bear. Al's two dogs are named Bama and Nicky. He has 46 Alabama hats. Last year, he found Alabama national championship T-shirts on sale for $3.41. He bought all 18 in stock. When he was 19, he ran onto the field at the Bluebonnet Bowl, carrying a roll of toilet paper and a box of Tide. More recently, he tried to convince his current wife to name a daughter Ally Bama. He begged. Her response was "Are you crazy?" She also refused to promise that she'd honor his request to bury him in crimson. Even before the Toomer's allegations, she thought he took this Alabama thing too far. She told him he better get a tattoo if he wanted to be buried with anything related to a football team.

The Defense has to shoulder some blame. They gave up over 400 yards in the air. True the offense has to score but the defense has to keep the opponents off the board.
