The game tixs say 2017 championship but all the shirts say 2016. So which is it? I go with 2017... thoughts? What did NDSU call their last championship?

My wife asked me about that on Saturday when the NC apparel got released, why it all said 2016. I said it was because it's still the 2016 season. The FCS/I-AA championship was before the new year until recently. However, watching the FBS championship, everything says 2017. Their championship has been after the new year for much longer, so that may also make a difference. bdk...care to enlighten us?

It was the 2017 championship GAME but JMU won the 2016 NCAA Division I Championship

I came here thinking the thread was going to be about which one will be sweeter, getting back to the top or keeping it for a second year in a row.

I expect the Dukes will be ranked #1 in the nation to start next season.

Any poll that doesn't should lose all its credibility. We were clearly the best team this year, so we couldn't lose spots due to being overrated. Next year is a reload, so we aren't losing enough to suggest this team will be weaker.

Saying all of that, HERO sports will probably put Sam Houston #1.

The season is 2016, as all but one game was played in the calendar year, 2016.

The shirts the players got on the stage when they got the trophy said 2016 Champions. Didn't see the ones being sold but maybe they were referring to the 2017 national championship game?

I thought their poll was the one that had Sam Houston State #1 going into the playoffs, meanwhile most of the others had NDSU.

The guy with the 2017 JMU FCS National Champs butt tat hopes we got back and win next year.
