More about the clientele-attitudes he'll be dealing with than him.

Yeah, I read that this morning. PJ is still developing this schtick with the Gopher fan base, they still don't know what to think. Journalists included.

I'll tell you one thing, he can't start 1-11 again. If he thought we were saying nasty things...... I can't imagine what Minnesota fans would be saying.

Fleck should bring in Bill Murray for some promotion, he knows a bit about Gopher holes.

I doubt PJ starts out 1-11, when he came to western, we were on a downward spiral and sitting at the bottom, that was why Cubit was let go. Minnesota was a good team last year including making a bowl game and winning against a good Washington State offense. The coach was fired because of player discipline and they felt they could get a better option, much different situation then when PJ came to western. They may not be as into his antics as we were because they are a large school with some tradition

RE: Fleck Minny article is very interesting take on the fleck
I wonder how long ago Minnesota started back channeling with Fleck. If it's been a while, that'd explain his quick dismissal of Purdue and Cincy (he would've talked with Oregon if they invited him, with or without Minny's interest). In return, Fleck could guarantee that he'd be able to send his recruits there with a snap of a finger.

Doesn't matter now, of course, it is what it is. Just wondering if there was ever a span of time where he - and the rest of us - really thought there were no job options left.

Read the transcript from the fleck press conference..word for word with Minnesota instead of WMU #music man. But I guess making $63000 a week will allow you with a straight face to tell the gathered media "Minnesota has always been a dream job for me..." Really, would have bought Big Ten job, but tell them what they want to hear..It is the age of the narcissist like it or not

We know exactly how it'll play out...divided fan base, with kids heavily buying in once he fills his roster with his guys. If he wins there will be reluctant support, if he doesn't the discontent group will become very vocal.

It'll be harder for him to spin the turnaround mantra though since they were a 9 win team, and statistically one of the best in school history. I don't think he can go 1 or 2 wins this year, and then sell the turnaround job like he did here.

That was an amazing piece from Ski-U-Mahland. The author is spot on. It's just a really bad match.

What kind of school has a bronco for a mascot, and wants it to row boats and grow bamboo?

Hey, the Goofers will be growing bamboo before you know it. And everyone will be rowing their boats right off the edge of the sea. It's all part of the Master Plan. Heh.

Same kind that has a mammal (Wolverine) that hasn't been seen in the state in decades if not a century?

Boise State, WMU, and the Denver Broncos. What kind of question is that? Broncos is no more off-beat than Tigers, Wildcats, etc. I really don't understand where you're coming from with that. As far as incorporating a row-the-boat mantra into things -- that has nothing to do with a mascot.

No, it's "Gopher Higher" :)
