Detroit News Article on PJ Poaching WMU recruits!
Just read the Det News Article on Fleck "poaching" WMU recruits...seems the WMU assistants were contacting verbal commits on Thursday night basically on behalf of Minnesota...even before PJ announced he was leaving. Sounds like he wasn't "sleeping" on the MN offer but was just buying time to steal as much as he could. I understand how this whole things works but that really seems slimy and borderline unethical. At least wait until you've switched employers! Not happy about this. PJ's dropped several notches in my book in recent days. I still appreciate everything PJ and his staff did for us but I'll just say things didn't end well from my viewpoint.

I read that too and wondered the same thing. At a minimum it looks horrible and sleazy. That's probably what it is too. We just need to get a good coach and staff pronto.

RE: Detroit News Article on PJ Poaching WMU recruits!
A lot of these kids were sold on the whole rtb and the wild excitement that has been going on at WMU. They believe that was Fleck. Our new coaches need to sell the program, the school, and themselves.

I also read a quote from one of our two star commits who said he is waiting for a call from fleck, and will flip when he gets the call. Something tells me that fleck won't be poaching two star guys, and that kid may be waiting a while. I say we should withdraw the offer. What's good for the goose....

Sounds like PJ will have the highest rated MAC recruiting class again! Oh wait, he's in the Big Ten now.

If he hasn't called yet, he ain't gonna call. He has taken what he wanted. What's done is done. It was sleezy and everything we have said, but it's done. Now we go do us and he can go and finish 7th in the BIG 14.

I am a bit, so yes. Not shocked, as that has been the precedent, but I did think he appreciated KB, Dunn, and the players a little more than that.

I can tell you what though, I certainly wouldn't remotely consider any assistant who participated in that as a candidate for head coach. I'm sure if they were doing that they are with fleck regardless, so probably moot.

If they were doing this BEFORE Fleck officially took the job at Minnesota then Western has a strong case for litigation. And I emphasize the 'If', because all we have thus far is heresay.

Very unsettling.

Yep, strange way of showing his appreciation to KB and Dunn for rolling the dice on him.

...“I got a text from some of the assistant coaches, letting me know Coach Fleck was leaving before it became official,” Guthrie said. “(Fleck) explained the situation to me, offered me over the phone, then started talking about Gopher football and why it was a place he picked. I didn’t need to hear about the culture that he was starting at Minnesota because I knew the culture from being committed to Western Michigan.”...

Not worth it. Why get in the mud? Take the high road. Keep it classy. We will come out on top.

Recruiting for Minnesota on WMU's dime. Classy.

Well, I guess I'd rather have them all defect out of conference than see them fan out to MAC West opponents.

Do we know what coaches have moved on to Minnesota with Fleck so far. For those asking for an interim coach, got a name?
