IF the assistant coaches were recruiting for Minnesota while they were still technically employed by WMU, it IS a big deal. Up to now I've been a voice of understanding about poaching recruits, but it becomes a big deal IF the timeline is as this recruit noted. And any litigation doesn't have to be conducted in the public eye, it can be done discretely and behind the scenes.

That was your boy. Anyone surprised?
I am a bit, so yes. Not shocked, as that has been the precedent, but I did think he appreciated KB, Dunn, and the players a little more than that.
I can tell you what though, I certainly wouldn't remotely consider any assistant who participated in that as a candidate for head coach. I'm sure if they were doing that they are with fleck regardless, so probably moot.
Wow you're a sharp one.
So DB/moomba is back. Oh great....

...“I got a text from some of the assistant coaches, letting me know Coach Fleck was leaving before it became official,” Guthrie said. “(Fleck) explained the situation to me, offered me over the phone, then started talking about Gopher football and why it was a place he picked. I didn’t need to hear about the culture that he was starting at Minnesota because I knew the culture from being committed to Western Michigan.”...
Recruiting for Minnesota on WMU's dime. Classy.
You're surprised?! REALLY?!
Didn't say I was surprised.
Does this mean we root for U of M over the buck tooth rodents?

How many times can a guy get banned and allowed back? What is the point in banning the loonybirds if just allow them back?

I swear I heard PJ say he was "sleeping on the offer" on Thursday night and didn't decide until early Friday morning. What a load of crap! The coaches started their raiding on Thursday night per the article! Sounds like someone better get their story straight.

Highly doubt it. Public universities. Information must be made available

He told wwmt he hadn't made up his mind yet WHILE he was flipping recruits.

I have on good authority and Fleck and his people like to keep their litigation under wraps with NO PRESS.
Didn't work out so well for them though.

Two Minnesota fans posting about PJ flipping WMU recruits. From their forum:
Quote:Fleck seems very loyal to Western Michigan, but what about all their recruits flipping? Not sure how that is thought of in the coaching world. Wonder what the former employer thinks of this. An obvious discussion point.
He'll likely have a difficult conversation with his former employer about this. Likely in the morning.

WWMT and Andy Pepper reporting that the contacting of recruits MAY just violate NCAA rules. Peej and assistants might have some splainin to do.
WMU Sports Rag's twitter account is up to date about it now.

I hope there is a rule against them flipping recruits while on another school's payroll and they get what's coming to them. Dirty birds.
Not surprised one bit.

Hey, even in the Musical, The Music Man, the kids in the band still went to the Battle of the Bands in Dallas.

Fleck is flipping Minnesota commits also, the other way. One on Twitter, a Madison HS standout posted Fleck never contacted him since hire. He called Minn recruiting assistant (who ever that is today) and was told to decommit. Fleck the flake in action. Agree with Philly, if they went after recruits on WMU dime Fleck could be back on ESPN again! Maybe a mug shot
