Our Players
Although Fleck gets the credit for changing the "culture" which allowed us to reach the levels we did, Fleck was VERY fortunate to have the players, and leadership within the team, which "bought in" to his vision, and allowed that to happen. He may not be as lucky at Minnesota, but thats not my point.

Right now is a pivotal point in the future of WMU football. The disposition of the team, and the outlook of the current players, is critical to the success next year and beyond. Over the last few years I have heard so many great things from these kids, and I believe that this is a locker-room full of leaders who understand what it takes to be great. Actually I give Fleck some credit here, but mostly their parents. I would love to see several of them step up, be it with keeping recruits on board, supporting the new coaches, and pushing the message that this program wasn't PJ Fleck, but was WMU Football. The players can make a huge difference in terms of our future.

Some teams I wouldn't bet on the players taking care of business in this regard, but with this particular bunch I think they may be difference makers.

This is one of the reasons that I'm not completely against "Row The Boat" staying part of our lexicon. Yes, PJ brought the phrase to WMU, but it THE BRONCOS that showed the world what that looked like. It was our community that was chanting it at the Cotton Bowl. They weren't chanting PJ, PJ. They certainly weren't chanting for PJ. They were chanting for the team and each other. Row the Boat isn't the same as follow the leader...
