Championship media coverage
I came across the NCAA All Access video which is pretty good:

Here's the front page of the Charlottesville Daily Progress:

RE: Championship media coverage
Just wondering ... Great Victory ... National Exposure ... Huge Crowd ... could this result in:

An increase in Freshman applications?

An increase in interest by Football prospects?

An increase in enrollment and class sizes?

An increase in media coverage?

An increase in donations?

An increase in ticket prices?

An increase in interest and attendance for all sports?

An increase in Freshman applications?
Doubtful

An increase in interest by Football prospects?
Definitely

An increase in enrollment and class sizes?
No

An increase in media coverage?
Probably regional, short term national

An increase in donations?
Huge potential if development people leverage it.

An increase in ticket prices?
Yes and probably supported if demand increases

An increase in interest and attendance for all sports?
Maybe a small amount but not significantly

BDK will bring the data, I'm sure, but our ticket prices/donation requirements are above a lot of G5 schools. Not sure if we will see any significant increase.

Would love to see this lead to more donations and facility upgrades. Heard something about us getting an indoor practice facility within the next 2 years. Not sure how true that is but maybe this wold help fund that.

RE: Championship media coverage
I think there will be an increase in applications - not necessarily from Virginia (where everyone already knows about JMU), but from outside that area. You are going to get a number of people who become curious about the schools if they have never heard of them, look them up, and possible decide that it might be a great match for them. This run has given us more exposure in New England (vs. UNH), Texas (vs. Sam Houston), the upper midwest (vs. NDSU), and especially in eastern Ohio/western Pennsylvania.

In addition, if we start getting more recruits from outside of VA, students at those recruits' HS will start thinking about coming here.

The deadline for next year is only one week away, so I don't think there will be that big of a bump for that, but we have just entered the radar of a number of HS juniors.

I'd like to see this NC lead to a second appearance of ESPN Game Day on JMU's campus in prep for a JMU-NDSU season kickoff game.

Amen to that. Still dreaming that dream I am (albeit unlikely I admit).

Would love to see the Bizon "enjoy" the late August heat in the 'burg.

The ball is in NDSU's court. We tried to give them a 50/50 deal and they turned it down. I seriously doubt they want to come down here, even if GameDay is involved, because let's face it... ESPN would be coming down for US, not them. We are the champs now. They are the former champs. The amount of coverage that game gets them is minor compared to what they would get in Fargo.
The only way this game will happen in Harrisonburg is if they are forced to come here. They aren't App State... they don't have the guts to come in to our house willingly. They proved that this year and it's only going to be harder now that we are the champs.

They are going to Delaware and Eastern Washington and already went to Weber State recently. Why wouldn't they go to JMU? I heard last year they were only looking for a single game or couldn't find a return date that worked.

True.
If a lot sells out for a season, then raise donor prices. If it doesn't, then don't. What lots sold out this past season?

As far as tickets, attendance avg was 19,844 (2 playoff games drug it down).
Excluding playoffs was 21,646, about 87% of capacity.
1st 5 games excluding final game vs Elon the week before Thanskgiving 22,738, about 91% of capacity.

The only game that sold out was Parents' Weekend (I think had the highest single game ticket prices $38?). Next closest was HC at 23,841. Given that, outside of Parents' Weekend, why jack up ticket prices more than a couple %/inflation? IMHOP, the only time you should jack up ticket prices significantly (5-10%) would be if you were selling out a majority of your games & averaging near sellouts 95%+..If sellout 4 games next season and avg 24k+, then by all means for 2018..
