That sucks. No one in The Belt gives us crap for liking Wrestling... Mainly because these damn southern schools like their Rasslin more than Wrestling and don't have teams. App is still a SoCon team in Wrestling.

I mean that's cool, admittedly I even sort of put college sports into three categories:

Football/MBB

Baseball/WBB

Everything else

But then we had(when I was a student) a great women's volleyball program and I'd love for us to be great in women's soccer(or men's if we added it) so I guess I can't judge.

I just always think of wrestling as a midwest sport.

RE: James Madison University
Eh, CUSA definitely doesn't have room for JMU, but maybe the Sun Belt will have some space for them...

JMU staying as a FCS program would probably be just fine for most JMU fans (their online presence is pro-FBS, but not sure that speaks for the whole) - they have success there and probably enjoy being a big fish in a small pond. If they join FBS they will beg to join the Belt and ODU will play them every year in an OOC series. It would be a great matchup and rivalry, but I don't see it happening any time soon.

Glad they won the FCS title this year!

FIFY.

Apologies, just a little salty after the two beatdowns we received from Appy State the past two years.
Hey, you joke. But Bass Fishing is happening.

I know. My nephew was on the Wake Forest team a few years back. Even made it on ESPN a few times.

But other than that, agreed. Unless the ground opens up on the G5 then move ups are done for a while.

LOL at you taking up for ULM based on conference affiliation and implying Tech can't look down on them.

In fairness, I was doing exactly that ten years ago. You'll realize in time what a joke of an athletic program that is in Monroe.

While I would prefer any future CUSA members come from east of the Mississippi, and there are only a handful of SBC schools I have actual interest in, but ULM is the only member I couldn't find a single silver lining about joining.

Oh, I understand LaTech's feelings toward ULM. App State fans have those same feelings toward UNCC. Almost exactly the same. At least ULM does have a I-AA championship to point at. Even though they've only had a handful of mini successes since.

But here's the thing about Charlotte, whether or not you believe they were gifted an FBS bid(same argument could apply to Georgia State or ODU), at least they put together a respectable well funded athletic program.

What you did at the FCS level is largely irrelevant if you ask me, ULM's FCS championship( thirty years ago) means exactly zero, especially considering they have just three winning seasons and three conference titles in the time since, only one of each since moving to FBS(won a SBC co championship at 6-6(4-3))and if Kolton Browning had been recruited by anyone better, they still wouldn't have a winning season at the FBS level.

To wit, App State has won 21 games in two years at the FBS level. It took more than five seasons for ULM to equal that number and when they reached their 21st win (as a FBS independent) 18 of those 21 wins came against FCS teams like Nichols, SFA, Weber State etc, other teams recently or currently moving up like UAB and UCF, or Louisana who's history, prior to 2011, is nearly as abysmal.(ULM's three wins against established FBS programs in that time were over a 1-10 Kentucky team, a 3-8 Miss State team and a 3-9 Hawaii team).

The majority of their athletic program(unless we're talking club water skiing, yes seriously) is equally woeful.

At least ODU, Charlotte and GSU put together a real budget and athletic program rather than occasionally almost competing in football while letting most other sports wither on the vine.

I love how you leave off our wins over Saban led Alabama, #8 Arkansas, and Wake Forest twice.

Saban led Bama in year one, when even if they hadn't faced sanctions, they only won 7 games, Saban's only single digit win season(and only one of two sub 11 win seasons).

"#8 Arkansas" finished 4-8 under one year coach John L. Smith and coincided with "once-in-a-program" talent Kolton Browning.

Wake Forrest...03-lmfao oh wait twice? 03-lmfao 03-lmfao

Let me repeat: FBS for two decades plus, one co-conference championship(6-6, 4-3) and one winning season.

ULM is a complete and total joke. And so is anyone who defends them, but...

If I were you, I wouldn't be talking about Charlotte in basketball season... they have almost 4 times as many NCAA wins as you have appearances.

Something to know about App fans, they only exist during football season. Once college basketball starts they are rooting for "Dem Heels and Ole' Roy", so any basketball success Charlotte has had isn't impressive to them.

http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/basketball-...etball-rpi

Basketball Powerhouse UNCC ranked at #205 RPI

4th rated sport at App State and ranked at #240 RPI

And you're talking ****?

Please.

No denying that we are down right now but you missed the point.

I speaking more towards the fact that your fans pound their chest so hard about App loyalty during football season and then completely disappear during basketball season. Give your all for App today...am I right?
