For the past 4 years I though "FAMILY" was short for...Forget about me, I love you. Looking back, should have known it really meant...Finally At Minnesota, I Left You. Thanks PJ. Not bitter but just disappointed today.

I'm bitter. Left at the most important juncture of our budding program.

Right: That's why I wanted/believed he'd stay one more year so much.

04-cheers I agree 100% a program like
Boise was a stated goal. One great season doesn't quite make it.

Irony is, if the right hire is made (Les) our program will be in better shape over next 3 years than if Fleck had stayed. He's a great jump start, but he's not Saban. Don't tell me you guys weren't getting sick of change your best, grow higher, etc. Effective for periods of time, but it was time for a change - just have to make the next right move (fleck pun intended).

The corollaries to Boise / Hawkins / Petersen cannot be ignored...

Who cares what I think? It's what the recruits thought, and they were excited and it was new to them.

Fleck worked his tail off. He deserves tons of credit for that. But I'm still amazed how many people believe the things that come out of his mouth. Words are just means to an end with him. That's why he had to "invent a new language".

He fricken said Minnesota was his dream job today. Do you think if he got the Oregon job he would've said the same thing.....or better yet, bail on Oregon for Minnesota?

PJ did what he needed to... to get where PJ wanted to go... next step. He's improving his best. Whether we like it or not a guy that preaches "change your best" will likely change his best... and if you're not moving up the ladder you're not changing your best...

Why can't we just thank him and MOVE ON!?

I'm just pissed about the way he manipulated those invested in the program for his personal gain. Maybe a little upset at myself as well to be taken in by a snake oil salesman. I wouldn't trust anything that came out of his mouth moving forward and I sure as hell wouldn't want a kid of mine being mentored by such low character. Cal me Pollyanna. Why can't people just be honest. At the end of the day, your word is all you have.

Dude... he did great things for this community... this University and the players he coached here... Just because he left doesn't take away from that... let's slow the vile knee jerk reaction a touch...

I mean coaches are put in the worst position. All they can say is "I'm committed to my school" anything else is worse. I think it was handled fine. Just go get Les and I'll be happier.

IF PJ Fleck has promised 4 years ago, 'I will rebuild your program so that in 4 years, you'll go 13-0, win the MAC and participate in the Cotton Bowl on New Years Day. There's only one condition, I'll leave for greener pastures in the days following that game.' I don't think many would have turned him down.

It is what it is-this is 'Big Time' football as experienced at 90% of the BCS schools. Get used to it, or be satisfied with winning the MAC every few years and going to a low rated Bowl. Ambitious, winning coaches aspire to move up to the Power Conferences with the high salaries. Way it is.

Couldn't agree more. Surprised to hear KB say peej had the offer on the table for a month and a half, speaks volumes to his "commitment"to his team.. But he was right... He'd give wmu all of himself until the day he left. Too bad he's taking most everything with him. Recruiting will be rough this year unless it's a homerun hire. Go get'em KB!

Welcome to the post-mediocre MAC level football world. We all wanted it and now we need to respect the fallout... come on... did anyone think PJ was going to be here for more than another year at best!?

I think he left at the perfect time for a G5 on the rise. He was gone after next year regardless...

We are the best G5 coaching landing spot out there... just comes down to the next hire...

Relax "bub".... PJ left us in fine position... unlike most previous regimes. Enjoy what you had and look forward to what's next... We aren't MSU or UofM... we are a G5 trying to build a program that remains relevant... PJ did a fabulous job getting us started... time to make the next hire that contiues that progress.
