Whether people want to admit or not... probably have of UC's fan base are also OSU fans, and that might be generous.

If the only way you see an ad is a social media story about the ad, was it really an ad?

I cancelled after they endorsed that Hag Hellery. They have called twice offering for $4 a month. No Thanks.

You're right it's generous. No way it's 50%, maybe 20%.

I cancelled a few years ago and never looked back. It was once a decent paper before they jettisoned all the talent and took a giant step to the left.

I bought their yearly rate ($19-$21) for the whole year on-line. It is worth it to me to keep up with the Reds and UC in addition to local sports and happenings. Christ, $20 is just 4-5 beers. I think I can handle that.

Correction -- tosu wasted MY money.

Actually, since the AD likely paid for it and their AD is entirely self-sustaining, no tax dollars went towards the ad. We're probably not the school to start the discussion about athletic departments wasting taxpayer/student money.

It's a nice gesture towards Fickell. If it gets some Cincinnati area OSU alums taking an interest in the Bearcats, great. If not, no harm done. It's not going to make the slightest bit of difference towards any single HS coach, recruit or regular kid choosing a college.

I do appreciate you posting the articles ctip. I miss bearcat news. I liked reading articles from newspapers of the team we just beat. I am usually just too lazy to find it myself but it is usually amusing.

Here's the deal.... we are going to get some casual fans come to Nippert this fall who have not been to a UC game for years (if ever) for no reason other than Fickell being an OSU guy. Anything that puts money in UC's pocket is good in my book.

I thought the casual fans coming to Nippert in the Fall was because of minor league soccer. Sorry, I digress. Carry on.

I don't think it's an Ohio State plot at all. It's just smart on Ohio State's part. They saw an opportunity to continue to develop their brand in Cincinnati, and they did it in a classy manner.

I cancelled my subscription when I determined that our delivery person could only gather themselves to deliver our Sunday paper two out of every four weeks despite multiple complaints.

The newspaper isn't much better. I couldn't care less about the political leaning, but they've never really covered UC well. They've been laying off reporters, are sourcing more and more material from USA Today, and I think they encourage their reporters to routinely insert themselves into stories. They love to parade around their legal escapades as news stories - their lawsuit against UC for Big 12 information comes to mind. Also, they haven't had a decent Reds beat writer in their last three tries. John Fay, C Trent, and Zach Buchanan routinely get into spats with their followers on Twitter and half of their blog entries on the website are not even baseball related.

As long as you know how to put it into proper perspective, even Twitter is a more reliable and timely source for information on Cincinnati sports.

So, remembering that OSU moved their Spring Game down here a couple of years back...

Am I bothered by an ad in the Fishwrap congratulating our Head Football coach?

Not.
In.
The.
Least.
