We will see, it will certainly help if we had already offered some of the guys who will de-commit
There are a couple from our own backyard. Naperville, Kankakee, etc. No reason he should not at least give them a call. We have the open spots. I think this year we can take the max of 25 recruits, so why not give it a shot?

I'd be really surprised if they won the West. They lose a lot off of their defense, which they relied heavily on (their offense was mediocre at best), as well as their QB, and they have a bit of ground to make up on Wisconsin and Iowa. The crossovers next year (Maryland, Michigan State, at Michigan) are more difficult than this past year's (Rutgers, at Maryland, at Penn State). This has nothing to do with the B1G, but their non-conference also includes a road game at an Oregon State team they struggled with in Minneapolis this past season.
Add in a total overhaul of the coaching staff and I think it would be pretty surprising if they made the B1G title game. They should be decent, though.
PJ inherits a program where FB players are angry and transferring out and are very angry with the administration.
It is a total mess.
It takes several years to rebuild a program.
Jerry Kill and Tracey Clay did a great job resuscitating Gopher FB.
PJ has to win the trust of a team , angry with their administration, while not alienating that administration.
He has not had enough time to recruit at Mn.for next year.
If PJ can stop Mn FB players transferring out and get 6 wins and a post season in this situation he will have accomplished an incredible feat.
The problem he might face is unrealistic expectations from fans and haters alike.
Will the Mn football players, administration and fans give him several years required to build a B1G contender?
I tried a quick google search but couldn't find the answer, how many players transferred from Minnesota?

Several of the accused ten players have said that they would transfer out.
Please do not misconstrue, that I am condoning abusing a person, and or alleged gang rape.
No means No, even after a person might have said yes.
In Mn the whole FB team stood behind these 10 players accused of gang rape.
Maybe they were guilty and the entire team by extension was guilty of siding with them or
They were treated unfairly in the sense that there was misunderstanding, or did not receive a fair hearing and were used as scape goats to make a political statement?
Whatever the truth may be, a real mess awaites PJ.
The acrimony between the administration and the FB team is not going away immediately.
He will not inherit a coherent, happy to receive him team united in their resolve to win a B1G title.

I'm glad we don't have to share conferences with him anymore. The rest of the Big Ten will hate him, but he thrives off the hate. Lol. Minnesota may suck next year, but once they buy into it, it will make them tough to beat if he can recreate the culture he had at WMU. I can already see it Fleck trash talking Harbaugh......

Reusse on PJ Fleck: Very unpopular with his colleagues at Northern Illinois including Jerry Kill. #Gophers

It's pretty lame:
Quote:This famous Minnesota phrase Ski-U-Mah (pronounced SKY-YOU-MAH) is more than 115 years old. In 1884, two Minnesota rugby players, John W. Adams and Win Sargent, tried to think of a fitting team yell. They used the word “Ski”, a Sioux battle cry meaning victory, and combined it with “U-Mah” (representing the University of Minnesota and rhyming with “rah-rah-rah”) to create a team cheer. The phrase stuck and was incorporated into both official school songs, “Hail Minnesota” and more commonly in the “Minnesota Rouser.”
The Minnesota Rouser is awful as well, especially the end around :50. Think trying to say Minnesota in just two syllables in an artificially low voice, like :Mnsota, Mnsota.

Time will tell if Fleck is the real deal or managed to catch lightening for one year.
I think Fleck's antics were "new-age" annoying, but you can't argue with success. He turned the program around and WMU had an outstanding year.
How Fleck's tactics will work at Minny and the rest of the B10 will be interesting to see. I'm always glad to see an NIU alum succeed, and am happy that Fleck is rising in the world of college football.
I was kind of amused that the WMU fan base bought so much into Fleck's "I'm staying, this is my family" routine. I guess they were hoping against hope that the money wasn't an issue, but it's never about the money, right?(LOL). WMU may have actually dodged a bullet.
They could have signed an expensive, lengthy contract and had buyer's remorse several years down the road after a losing season or two(sounds familiar to NIU fans)
