Nothing, Texas' offense was the problem despite having arguably one of the best rbs in the nation and top Texas talent.

Not true they averaged over 30 points a game last year. But let's just wait and see what 2017 brings. I think if you expect a USF drop off you are going to be disappointed

They did score 31.9 points a game but that was 6th best in the ten team B12. All I'm saying is Sterlin Gilbert may not be the offensive genius some of you believe he is.

Very good news for AAC D Coordinators.

And I know USF fans will refuse to have anyone question Strong but there are warning signs with him not being the home run hire you all expect.

You seem to forget that USF is a G5 program. UCF did well in 2014 but even that was a significant drop off from the 2013 season. None of us have massive depth and the G5 programs who win 9-10 games in a season rely heavily one 3-4 key playmakers. USF is now losing, at least, 2 of those key playmakers that accounted for a huge majority of your offense.

This is also assuming that Flowers avoids injury again the entire year despite having to handle even more of the rushing load.

Idk how much of a guru he is. Not saying he is a bad coordinator but a quick Wikipedia search tells me he was a high school coach for 10 years and has been in D1 football for 3 years as an offensive coordinator at 3 different schools. This being his 4th year as an offensive coordinator at his 4th different school. Kind of hard to tell how good he is when he has never been an OC at a school for more than 1 year don't ya think.

And I love the USF fans just assuming that you're Alabama. You said "don't expect a dropoff" despite your #1 RB and #1 WR leaving, along with some key linemen.

You're just delusional if you think there won't be any dropoff in production next year.

usf will be the best team in the east next year. probably the favorite to win the conference. I don't see a big drop off if any at all. interested to see if flowers can improve in the passing game. Not saying he is a bad passer but from the few times I saw him play most of his success comes from scrambling and finding someone open because its difficult to cover for over 5 seconds and generally coverage breaks down by that point. I mean to see if he can become more of a passer that can read defenses and pick them apart with accuracy from the pocket. He doesn't really need to do that since what he does works. I am glad last year is his last at usf. Hard to tell at this point how the new OC changes the offense if any changes are made. Just pointing out its hard to view him as a genius guru type given his history but that doesn't mean he isn't a good oc. The new guy would be smart to design the offense around flowers and just let him do what he does. He will make a good returner in the NFL if he gets a shot he is very slippery.

Didn't say there wouldn't be a drop off in offense. What I did say and stand on is that enough talent returns for USF to continue being effective and not a drop off over all. I expect our defense with more experience and growth under its belt to be better.

What I don't see is a drop off where we only win 7-8 games. That was the doom and gloom scenario that some of UCF fans want to believe is reality.

As I said tune in 2017 season and we shall see. 04-cheers

Yeah, offense was perfectly fine at Texas. Texas was 16th nationally in yards per game. The issue was Charlie Strong's soft defense that was 94th nationally in yards given up per game (that's with Charlie Strong taking over the defensive play calling).

So basically, I wouldn't worry at all with Sterlin Gilbert on offense. The offense wasn't why Texas sucked.

Actually...for a G5 team, USF does have massive depth at the skill positions. That is thanks to WT stocking the cupboard before he left.

PS in 2014 you had lost Blake Bortles and had to rely on a less than stellar Justin Holman, who proved to be a poor QB over the long haul. Despite the losses, we still return QF with over 4,300 yards and 42 TD's.

Flowers completed 63% of his passes for 24 TD's vs. only 7 INT's. He was throwing absolute dimes against South Carolina (rewatch first half film especially), and many of them were from in pocket.

Not saying make him into a pocket passer, but he can do it.
