I don't hope he fails. I just am no longer optimistic when it comes to US governance. Bush and Obama were both serious disappointments.

I would be very happy if Trump lives up to the hype - it's just that I've seen this type of candidate before (overseas) and it ended badly for the country.

Bush and Obama were ideologues.

Clinton was a deal-maker and was far more successful. Trump is a deal-maker. We will see if the left will become reasonable at some point. If they do, I think they can work together and get a lot of good things done.

I did not vote for Obama but I was hopeful he would be a good POTUS.

Well Obama is on the other hand of the spectrum from Trump. Obama has this "I think I know better than you as to what you want and need" type of thing going.

It's been 8 years since we've had a deal maker/negotiator. Remember Bush's, it's not the deal I wanted but it's the deal that's best for the county?

I'm always optimistic. Even if he does hold up his word, creates millions of jobs by bringing industry back, cuts taxes, helps the middle class, the left will always find something or make the well he's in Putin's pocket remarks.
