You've seen numerous maps of the U.S. showing where the college football fan bases are, and I'm sure you've seen maps showing where the NFL fan bases are. My challenge to you guys is this: make a map showing where the NFL and college football fan bases are- a combination of the NFL map & the college football fan maps. One day when I have a lot of time, I will try this myself, but I want to see what you guys can do first. Free rep to anyone who takes my challenge.

On a serious note, I really want to see what you guys can come up with on this map thing. To the best of my knowledge (which is somewhat limited, I will confess), this has NEVER been done before!! That is why I will personally rep each poster who does this map (unfortunately, +2 is as high as I can go, unlike some folk who can do a +3. I envy them btw ) and I won't be too critical of it at all (I will do my best to avoid criticizing at all, but sometimes my OCD does come out, and I'm critical even though I DON'T want to be so I am saying this so no one can I lied :) ). The reason for making this map to begin with is I want to see graphically just how much the NFL affects college football and I feel like that this would be the best way to do it. So even DavidSt can make a map that shows the NFL & college football fan bases together and be guaranteed of +2 positive rep from me!!


To give you guys a rough idea of what I'm looking for, I want to see the state of New York showing the fan bases of the NY Giants, the NY Jets, the Buffalo Bills, the Syracuse Orange, the SUNY Buffalo Bulls, & the Army Cadets. But I don't just want a map of New York; I would like to see all 50 states done like that.

There is no source that would create a statistically accurate map.

Common Census maps Actually, there is. The Common Census map project has done maps & statistics for both the NFL & NCAA football, so they could be used as a source.

My map is highly inaccurate, but it's based off of a collection of inaccurate models though. Still, I wouldn't mind seeing a map like I described based off of inaccurate data. Maybe it will spur someone else that we don't know to make the map off of accurate data .

As long as fans aren't allowed to "stuff the ballot box," I really don't see what the problem is. IMO, if you really want accurate counts on the fan bases of all teams, you would have to make a mandatory census of the entire country and then you would have truly accurate results. But the government doesn't want to go through that time & expense, so no go.
