We will need to use a smaller font to fit that name on the back of his jersey.

Nice...finally a player that can do the slam dunk!

How many does the entire team have this year? I can't remember witnessing any.

Don't blame you. I am not falling for hype anymore after this season

Falling for it, Crazydog? You are the king of initiating hype.

That's fair I suppose. I kind of lost it this preseason. I thought it was a sure deal. I won't ever subject this board to false hope again.

Will his last name fit on the back of the jersey?

They can just shorten it to "Demo".

Tommy Demogerontas, a Sandburg grad and NIU signee, scores 41points as Moraine Valley beats Waubonsee Valley 118-114. Demogerontas had eight 3pters.

@ChicagoHoops

That's an improvement of 41 points over the last time he played against Waubonsee.

I hate to bring even more negativity to an already beatdown message board...but I could really care less what a guy does against Waubonsee Community College, Morton College, McHenry County College, College of Lake County, etc. I'd expect any decent big man to average 20+ and 10+ at that level without a problem.

Tommy is 6'7 and plays all positions. I'm sure you won't find many at the junco level scoring 20pts and 10 rebounds a game. A Juco player can be more immediate help than a highschool kid.

actually, 248, for a guy who used to seem somewhat support and at least rational, you recently seem to relish in trafficking in negativity. Out of 324 Juco scholarship programs (D1 & D2) There is only ONE player in JUCO D2 (like Waubonsee) that is averaging 20+ points and 10+ rebounds. There are ZERO players in Division 1 Juco averaging 20 and 10.... Instead of celebrating a recruit scoring an amazing 41 points, you take a shot at how meaningless that is..........do you have any concept of what it takes to score 40+ in any game at any level?

If he's only going to be here 2 years maybe he's less likely to get fed up and transfer like so many others. So if he's good he might actually stick around.

as a Juco transfer with ONLY two years of eligibility, he won't have much choice. He must play at NIU in 2017-18 as a junior...if he were to transfer he would have to sit a year and then play his 4th year. Not many schools will give you two years of scholarship (sit first, play 2nd) for only one year of eligibility to play.

But if he is truly good--that is a possibility if he wants to "up-transfer" to big time program.

RE: Tommy Demogerontas/2017-18 NIU Basketball Recruit
I never said it was meaningless, I simply stated that I don't really care what kind of numbers someone puts up against that level of competition. Of course scoring 40 points in a rec league, high school, JUCO or any other level is impressive. He obviously wasn't a dominant player at the HS level so he must be developing which is great. Personally speaking I just don't care about scoring 40 in a game against that level of competition. That's my opinion. I hope he averages 20 and 10 at NIU.

Also, you can't be serious with the "you seem to relish in trafficking in negativity" garbage. Sure I've posted a few negative thoughts but they were warranted for the topic of conversation. Heaven forbid a relatively objective member of this board isn't optimistic about the direction of the team. Don't take a little negativity as a personal attack...from day one this team has been incredibly disappointing both from a player and coaching stand point.

Here's to Tommy going for 50 and 25 next time out

No! I'm sure Nader and Maric are the highest at 13pts.
