RE: Official Game Thread: The Citadel
CITADEL 8-8, 1-1:

It's not easy to beat Wofford on their home court, especially in a tight game where the disciplined Terriers usually shine. But the energetic young Citadel squad got them playing up tempo (104 to 103) and hit their free throws down the stretch (they lead the SoCon by a long way in both free throw percentage - .774 - and made free throws: 21.2). 6-1 175 Freshman guard Preston Parks continued on his tear with 19. Unlike VMI they've got a lot of ways to hurt you, and are playing with confidence that we did not see from the Keydets. If the Bucs are not sharp, there could be another SoCon upset.

Out of Conference wins include: 6-8 Stetson, 8-7 USC Upstate, 2-11 Colgate and 4-7 Presbyterian (who beat Furman).

As usual for a Duggar Baucom team, they are #1 nationally in scoring at 100.0, and 2nd worst (to Savannah State) in scoring defense at 100.3. They are -3.8 in rebounds, but maintain an excellent +5.1 in turnover margin (15th in the country) and 10.8 steals per game (5th in the country).

6-7 205 So Zane Najdawi is the only guy over 6-4 who gets over 15.5 minutes (23.7). He thrives in this uptempo game getting 16.4 points, popping an occasional 3, hauling in 7.8 rebounds, blocking 1.3 shots and stealing 1.7.

The Bucs have been pretty good at taking care of business this season. The tough thing about conference is that you've got to do it again every couple of nights. As Mercer, Chattanooga and UNCG have demonstrated, lapses are punished.

6-1 175 Fr Preston Parks; 25.4 minutes, 15.5 points, 38-123 .309 from 3, 3.2 rebound, 4.5 assists, 2.1 t.o.’s, 2.3 steals
5-11 170 So Quayson Williams; 21.3 minutes, 13.0 points, 43-109 .394 from 3; 3.3 rebounds, 1.2 steals
6-4 225 Fr Kaelon Harris; 20.3 minutes, 12.0 points, 12-34 .353 from 3, 4.9 rebounds, 2.1 t.o.’s
5-9 150 Fr Frankie Johnson; 26.6 minutes, 9.5 points, 17-55 .309 from 3, 2.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2.1 t.o.’s, 1.7 steals
6-3 180 Sr Warren Sledge; 28.2 minutes, 6.6 points, 21-63 .333 from 3, 2.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 0.8 steals
6-1 150 So Matt Frierson; 14.9 minutes, 5.8 points, 29-88 .330 from 3, 1.0 rebounds, 0.8 steals
6-6 190 Fr Leandro Allende; 12.9 minutes, 5.8 points, 14-51 .275 from 3, 2.6 rebounds,

6-7 205 So Zane Najdawi; 24.0 minutes, 16.4 points, 8-21 .381 from 3, 7.8 rebounds, 1.9 t.o.’s, 1.3 blocks, 1.7 steals
6-8 205 Sr Brian White; 15.3 minutes, 9.2 points, 19-41 .463 from 3, 3.5 rebounds
6-6 235 Fr Ezekiel Balogun: 5.3 minutes, 2.9 points, 6-14 .429 from 3, 2.6 rebounds
6-8 210 Sr Tom Koopman: 7.3 minutes, 2.6 points, 0 3’s, 1.7 rebounds

This team attempts ~38 3 point baskets a game. Some games they average one downtown heave a minute.

Bucs look to be favored by 14.5 in this one with the over/under at 186.

I bet attendance goes up greatly when school is in. With that much empty space and quiet it would be a good place to study.

3 beautiful, creative passes already by Long. The first one bounced off of HMP's(?) or Glass's chest, as it was a no-look he didn't see coming; the second was the near court-length to Williams that got blocked; and the third was the short, quick oop to HMP for a flush.

Yep. Jermaine's offense is coming along and he looks VERY capable of running the point.

Sure, sure, but how about that pass from Banks to hit the cutter on the layup? What a heads-up play! Banks is most improved and most reliable of any of the bigs, I stand by it.
