They did but you can't wait until January to bring in a head coach unless it's a total home run hire. What they could have done is name an interim coach from within or if they knew they had a shot at a good coach or wanted to bring Kelly back, just wait it out until they could bring the new guy in, alumni pressure be damned.

Chip Kelly is a great CFB coach that is not competent enough to be an NFL head coach. Chip's ego does not see that though.

Bert gets another season because of his contract. He has established a pattern of 2nd half collapses in his 4 seasons at Arkansas. This is in addition too poor recruiting and a 10-22 conference record. Now with all that posted. If Jerry Jones presses the issue. We could very well end up with a new coach.

They can have Brian Kelly and not have to change the name plate on the park spot
