Informative Interview with New OC Mike Denbrock
Shows a little personality and goes over his role at ND along with his recruiting philosophy and where his relationships are. Seems like a personable guy - No Hank Hughes for those of us who remember that character. Favorite dance move is the Stanky Leg for those of us wondering.

This guy gets it. Fick should feel great about this hire. I bet Denbrock wants a head coaching job so this may only be a pit stop.

Maybe, though based on what I've read he seems to be content as a behind-the-scenes type guy. Maybe he's just ambitious enough to not want to be demoted.

Denbrock leaving is not going over well with the nd fan base. Kind of makes me think the ice Kelly is standing on is very, very thin.

He better hope he lands that NFL job soon.

Kelly is taking over the offensive. He will be calling the plays in South Bend next season.

And the year after, he'll be calling plays from a Telestrator on FS1.

Not because he's a bad coach. With Notre Dame's schedule every year, it's difficult to "win out" as would be required for a shot at a championship. But cutting everyone from the coaching staff seems curious.

He's going home to Central Michigan at the end of next season.

Kelly and Mike Brown probably wouldn't mesh well together.

It's certainly difficult to win out but you could say Alabama gets it done while pulling in similar talent that Notre Dame does. Bama played and beat 8 top 25 teams this year. Notre Dame played 2 and lost to them both (one of which turned out to be a not-very-good Michigan State team). Plus they had other weird losses (NC State where they passed a million times in a hurricane, Duke, a bad Texas team).

Notre Dame definitely isn't an easy gig but they should be winning for more than 4 games with the kind of talent and resources at Kelly's disposal in South Bend.

Alabama beat four top 25 teams over the course of the regular season. Three if you draw the line prior to their conference championship game (which would probably be fair if you're comparing them to an independent). Alabama went 3/3 while Notre Dame 0/4. All things considered, Notre Dame's schedule looks like it was more difficult than Alabama's if you ignore the hype.

Not disputing that last statement you're making, but you can't objectively laud Alabama's schedule versus Notre Dame's.

FWIW, Alabama has beaten 16 straight ranked opponents over the past 2 years. Let that sink in.

As far as SOS, it's not really a contest.

My favorite team to watch this year. Loads more fun than the home team was. And I give Alabama a lot of money in tuition.

I mean, before the playoff semi-final game, Alabama had the 3rd hardest SOS v. Notre Dame at 30th according to this. Before the SEC Championship game, Bama was still 3rd and Notre Dame 27th. Playing several top 25 teams really does count for a lot.

These SOS numbers are pretty close to Sagarin's. ND's schedule is solid, Alabama's is elite.
