Kinda like the historical black college bowl game this year for a championship, it was a great game. I'll be watching the fighting bo pelini's next week.

The current system of paying G-5 to be the punching bag with no path to a championship is not fair. A school like Houston last year is the only possible scenario where a g-5 could get in the playoff and I think they might be about the only g-5 who could pull it off and I still dont' think it will ever happen. Even BYU and Boise literally have no path to the playoff IMO. Sun belt, MW, C-USA, MAC, and most of the AAC etc have zero chance. You can't tell me you think Tulsa, Tulane, or UConn is going to make the playoff.

8 team g-5 playoff and 8 team p-5 playoff would be much better than watching a bunch of 6-6 MAC and Sun Belt school play in bowls with 500 people in attendance. 5 champs plus 3 wildcards.

My sentiments exactly. A G5 would need so many things to fall just right to get in its nearly impossible. Houston just got lucky that Oklahoma and Louisville were highly rated when they played them. Just getting those games was unusual---and just the sheer luck of timing played a big factor. Had Houston played either of them at different times in the year, each would have been ranked lower, making them both less significant wins.

The number of factors that have to fall just right for a G5 to even be considered for the playoff are astronomical---then when you do the math on the selection committee membership composition (all are reps of P5 conferences but maybe one), well---it aint happening---even if the G5 is completely deserving and undefeated. If the committee can rationalize Ohio St over Penn St---then a G5 has no chance.
