Will see how Jay Wright does. He's the newest member of the NCAA title club.

Going back to 1950, here are coaches who have won their first title, and never made another Sweet 16:

Nat Holman - CCNY
Al McGuire - Marquette (retired after title)
Larry Brown - Kansas (won NBA title after NCAA title; has a chance with SMU)
Kevin Ollie - UConn (TBD)
Jay Wright - Villanova (TBD)

Larry isn't coaching right now, so he has no chance at SMU unless they bring him back.

I remember from my old World Book encyclopedia that CCNY was a force back in the 1950s or so. Got caught up in a Point Shaving Scandal. Neat story.

Ditto for Boston College.

That one was more in my lifetime.

Ollie is what, 41 years old? To classify him as "never getting to the sweet 16 again" is idiotic. Typical Houston fan.

At this point, you wonder if he'll even go dancing again. Probably if he pulls a Mike Davis and get demoted so far he coaches at a low level school with no one in the conference.

UConn plays much better with its four starters than without. Give it a rest.

It's not nonsense. I hate how you guys keep playing down other teams victories over you because you have injuries. Tough **** we all going through that

Probably not the first to mention...but I don't think LB has the chance at SMU for a sweet 16 run that you believe he does...unless there's something going on we are not privy to!

The TIGERS smoked the Huskies 70-61; led by 20 several times.

Please post all excuses for UConn: injuries, TIGERS cheated, injuries, bad officiating, injuries, no home cooking for Huskies, etc.

Congrats. For the first time in 30+ years, you have a better team.

Now go work on your academics.

You are such an overdramatic Sally. No one is down playing other team's victories. We are downplaying the notion by you and the other brilliant minds on here suggesting Ollie will go down as the worst coach to win a NC.

I'm not an Ollie fan....but why all the talk of "worst coach to win a title" and "wonder if he will ever go dancing again"!?!?!? UCONN has KEY injuries. Why base the man's entire career or future fortunes on injuries in ONE YEAR? smh

The explanation is that this board loves to pile on UConn, whether deserved or not. It's some kind of sick obsession.

Exactly - this is far from rocket science.

PS - Loving the new Bearcats#1 storyline. #1 Troll to #1 basketball fan is the plot twist of the century.

The football equivalent of the UConn basketball injury bug would be losing 1/2 your first string offense and defense. He earns a pass this season.

Maybe Ollie's brilliant mind will teach your guards how to make a simple pass to the post

A healthy roster would enable UConn to overwhelm most teams with sheer talent.

Classic response from a defeated man. Congrats on the win last night - I'm done with this.
