And comparing its ratings to other events (including MBB), the Bahamas Bowl is here to stay.

Or comparing the bowl time slot compared to an adjacent slot (12 - 1:00pm.) the bowl game out drew SportsCenter almost 3:1.

Bowl games, even minor bowls, are ratings winners...

And 1.37M people now know about EMU (and ODU) FB...

None of these people (presumably) watched the bowl game live on television:

(Need to scroll down about 2/3s of the way).

Not bad at all. Blew away the Thunder vs. Celtics game that night on NBA TV, which admittedly, has much smaller reach than ESPN, still ...

A better comparison --- NBA games on TNT on Thursday night (December 22nd). Admittedly, these were going against an NFL game on NBC:

Lakers/Heat, 8 PM ET, 772K viewers.
Spurs/Clippers, 10:30 PM ET, 977K viewers.

There were 8 NBA games on ESPN & TNT the week before (week of December 12th) and only 2 (Thunder/Blazers and Knicks/Warriors) of the 8 got more than 1.4M viewers.

And, of course, the time slot wasn't favorable although there isn't a lot of live sports at 1:00 p.m. on a Friday afternoon.

I wonder if the ratings got stronger as the afternoon went on, esp. from 4 - 4:30, when kids were home from school, etc.

I would guess that ESPN was happy with our numbers.

I recall the Bahamas Bowl got good ratings last year too. Just before Xmas (many people off work/school) with no concurrent games is a nice time slot. All the games have been entertaining and competitive too.

And more importantly than the 1.4M is the number of stakeholders, etc. with a connection to the game who watched the game. E.g., player family and friends, students, faculty and staff, alums, locals to the university, recruits and possible recruits, prospective students, etc.

This is not simply #Game13.
