The Coogs hire Miss. State QB Coach Brian Johnson as Offensive Coordinator.
Source: The Houston Chronicle

Quote:Johnson, a Baytown native, spent the past three seasons as quarterbacks coach on Dan Mullen's staff at Mississippi State. Prescott, who broke 38 school records, is currently the starting quarterback for Super Bowl contender Dallas.
In Johnson's first two seasons at MSU, the Bulldogs produced the two highest single-season passing totals in school history.
Mississippi State averaged 30.4 points and 440.2 yards per game en route to going 6-7 this season.
In three seasons under Johnson, the Bulldogs were second in the Southeastern Conference in total offense (average of 6,129 yards per season) and passing offense (average of 3,492 yards) after finishing ninth in total offense in the year prior to his arrival.

Hmm...I think we'll be okay after all. Thoughts, fellow Coogs?

I guess it's a good sign that MSU fans are upset, not excited to see him go. I read through their 4 page thread on it. Many wanted him promoted to OC there.

Did he have a better offer? Keep in mind that he's the 15th highest paid coach in college football.

Yeah, he should've gone home to Temple.

It's not our fault Feckless Tech have a bye week right after the season opener.

I hope hiring unheralded seemingly nameless coaches will work out.

Geez, if you hire Les Miles, he probably won't bounce somewhere else (too old for a major rebuilding job) and you can keep Applewhite and Orlando as coaches if they're on board with it.

Hopefully for y'all his experience and capabilities are much improved from when he was OC at Utah. Admittedly, being a 25-year old coordinator is probably a bit much regardless, but he got demoted to co-OC and then to just QB coach from there. Seems like a very bright guy that was probably just pushed forward too quickly, so I hope it works out for the Coogs.

Still love him for all the money he made me in the Sugar Bowl.

I hope we tell him, too. They need to suck it up and deal.

For how long? Oregon should have hired Mullen.
