Vandy is up 3-0 38 seconds left in the 1st QTR. Vandy just forced a fumble and recovered. Replay easily shows all of this.

Lol ruling on the field stood. Wow a big miss call there by both the officials on the field and the replay officials. Pretty ridiculous.

Vandy holds anyway. Turnover on downs.

14-3 Halftime lead for NC State.

Vandy is playing very conservative on offense. Gonna have to open it up a bit.

Giving away 14 on bad tosses hasn't helped. It was a bad match up for the 'Dores. They fare much better against running teams. They simply don't have the depth in the secondary to run the whole game with good receivers. So if their front 4 can't get to the QB this happens.

NC State isn't a bad team, they should've beaten Clemson but missed a last second FG. Dayes is a quality RB.

Actually, the results today are the first indications that what I thought all season is probably true. The ACC is the deepest conference this year. Your top isn't as strong as it was a year ago. Both Clemson and F.S.U. have more weaknesses. Louisville is on similar footing with those two. I think the F.S.U. / Michigan paring will also prove what I've suspected this year. The Big 10 is the weakest of the P4 conferences outside of the Big 12.

I've believed all along that the bottom of the SEC was weaker this year. That our middle was a little tougher because some mid level to lower schools upped their game, and some top schools sagged to the middle tier.

I think the conference breakdown will go like this:
Alabama is stronger than anybody else's top team.
Clemson will be second again and if Washington hadn't drawn Bama first they might have challenged Clemson for 2nd.
I hope Auburn's offense shows up because I don't think the Big 12 faced many defenses this year that they were successful against.
I think the PAC is stronger than the Big 10, but not at the top.

The SEC will likely have the best team. The ACC the most depth. The PAC will be third in strength but 4 in finish of the champs. The Big 10 will fair poorer than expected and the Big 12 will be last with the possible exception of OU.

Florida was decent but no offense to match the defense.
Georgia was avg. They did beat Auburn @ Georgia but no one other than biased Georgia fans think that game would have been close if Auburn wasn't missing the starting QB, the starting RB and other injured players, even the back up RB was injured lol. Was a rough stretch for us.
Tennessee was decent but faded after barely getting by most of their opponents.

This result makes me think, Vandy wasn't a true bowl team and their record is a result of a very weak East. (Weaker than even I thought heading into bowl season)

We'll see though. I could be wrong. Next season the East should be a bit better and back to 2-3-4 strong teams 2 years from now. A lot of new coaches, a lot of young players.

RE: SEC Bowl Season
Well so far tonight the Aggies are following the close of the season. Jumped out on the first drive and looked like world beaters and have stunk it up since. They can't let the KState speed get behind them or outflank them and so far three big plays and two turnovers are the difference in the first half.

Congrats to KState! Texas A&M........inexplicable.

I could not believe USF tried a silly on-side kick with a 17 point lead. I think that irritated SC. 18 points unanswered, only to lose in OT. I was really rooting for Muschamp. What a bummer.

The Hawgs are trying to play another 2nd half with both hands wrapped around their necks again.

It sucks that the league is taking a hit this year.

What sucks more is having to hear all the know-it-all commentators that have been dogging the SEC for years actually have some material to back it up with. That and the loud-mouthed fans who have been looking for an opportunity to knock us.

Oh well. I suppose sucking once a decade isn't that bad.

That's how we lost to Mizzou....and now VT. This team was the definition of inconsistent. On to 2017.

Look, being 1-4 in bowls thus far stinks. But the only favorite to lose was A&M. South Florida picked up a 10th win against what I already had counted as an SEC loss. I actually thought the Gamecocks played respectably and that boneheaded play calling in overtime shortened the game.

I've never counted on Vanderbilt to win anything and N.C. State was clearly the more complete team.

A&M was a disappointment because they weren't any better prepared to face Kansas State than they were against anyone else they played this year. Sumlin does what little work he does in the off season and changes precious little once the opening kickoff is made. The Aggies could do a lot better with another coaching hire IMO.

Other than Alabama we haven't been favored to win many of our bowls. Qualifying a couple of weak sisters from East hasn't hurt yet (provided the Cats win) in that Kentucky is yet to play and Vandy lost, but it altered the order of our finishers versus the others we play. Mississippi State was fortunate to win but then no 5-7 team deserves a bowl slot.

Tennessee vs Nebraska should be an SEC win, but then it depends upon which Tennessee shows up. Will it be the one who turned the tables on Va Tech the way Va Tech turned them on Arkansas, or will it be the Tennessee that blew so many games?

As for Bielema, I think he is a Big 10 plant sent to sabotage the SEC!03-wink

We'll see which LSU shows up, or if Sean White is able to play and actually throw against Oklahoma, or if a single dimension Georgia actually manages a win over T.C.U.

As for Alabama, well we might take home another Natty for the SEC while having the poorest bowl record in quite some time.
