Two Golden Age of Hollywood actresses died. jean Porter and Gale Sherwood. Jean was also known as a dancer in films like the movie she co-star with Guy Madison. Gale is also known as a singer when actresses back in the 1030s, 40s and 50s have sang in the movies.
Bradford Dillman died. Star of 2 Dirty Harry movies (The Enforcer and Sudden Impact), died at the age of 89. He also starred in 1959's Compulsion with a young Dean Stockwell as two teenagers who murdered a child to make a perfect murder. They were defended by Orson Wells's character. Bradford is also the second star from the movie Piranha in the last month after the death of Robert Urich's widow who died.
Actor Peter Wyngarde died. He was an actor that appeared on Dr. Who tv series. For us US audience, he is best remembered as Klytus. Meng's right hand man from the 1980's Flash Gordon movie.
Patrick M. DiNizio “Pat” (October 12, 1955 – December 12, 2017) He had gained a heck of a lot of weight, but was a great songwriter and performer back in the day. One of my favorite shows. Still have the drummer's stick from that show.
Patrick M. DiNizio, 62, of Scotch Plains, NJ, passed away on December 12, 2017. For the past 37 years, Pat was the principal songwriter, guitarist and lead vocalist for the platinum recording artists The Smithereens. Their records contained such hits as “Blood and Roses”, “Behind the Wall of Sleep”, “House That We Used To Live In”, “Drown In My Own Tears”, “Only A Memory”, “Yesterday Girl” and “A Girl Like You” among many others.

Connie Sawyer actress, the oldest living working actress dead at 105. One of her best memorable role as the old lady in the wheelchair that stole Jim Curry's wallet in Dumb and Dumber. She appeared on many hit tv shows that she was asked to be on other shows by actors and actresses that she worked with. Dick Van Dyke/Mary Tyler Moore and Lou Grant shows she was on. The Andy Griffith Show and Matlock, All In The Family/Archie Bunker's Place and In the Heat of the Night.
Movie credits include, When Harry Met Sally, Oh God, Foul Play, The Pineapple Express the original True Grit and many more.
She was not a major actresses, but her roles are memorable in a way that you would still remember her even if she does not appear in the rest of the movies.

I saw the Smithereens probably 10 times back in the mid to late 80’s/early 90’s(?)
Fun stuff, never quite got why they didn’t hit the real “big” time. Guess they did okay though.

Two musicians died whose names I didn't know but I know them from their songs and movie appearances. South African Hugh Masekela died. He has a massive #1 instrumental hit in the 1960's called 'Grazing in the Grass.' You might not know the name but you might recognize the melody.
Also Lari White died. She had several top 10 country songs (Now I Know is probably her biggest hit). But I know her from being in some films including Cast Away. She's the one who gives Tom Hanks directions at the end of the film.
