Character actor Jay Thomas died today at the way too young age of 69 from cancer. He was in a lot of shows you probably saw (Cheers - he was Carla's husband). But he was also known for coming on the David Letterman show every Christmas to tell a classic story involving him and the real Lone Ranger (actor Clayton Moore).

It's a pretty funny story if you haven't seen it before - you can see the clip at the link below.

If I have to die, I want to die when I'm 69.

RE: Grim Reaper Should Hang Himself
A couple of legendary basketball coaches have died in the past few days - Judd Heathcote (Michigan State) and Rollie Massimino (Villanova). I think both won NCAA titles. Massimino was still an active coach at 82 at an NCAA D3 school in Florida for the past 12 seasons? He probably was the oldest active coach in NCAA? Maybe Wayne Graham at Rice now holds that distinction? He's 81 and still the baseball coach at Rice.

My old high school friend is a producer, singer and song writer in Nashville knew Troy. Both Troy's and my friend's daughters had horse riding classes together. Both girls became friends. In a way, this news struck hard for my friend of Troy's death.

Character actor Harry Dean Stanton dies at age 91. He was in a ton of great movies and TV shows through the years dating back to the 1950's. Probably he would be best known for being in the original Alien movie, the original Escape to New York and Green Mile.
