We really need to push for this, would make the sport a whole lot more fun and get us back to football and not politics of who it better or has the most money. Everything would be left on the field, just win your division, then conference, and you are in the playoff.

Just drop all the bowls and go to a 16 team playoff.

Imagine a Michigan home game at Noon in the second round with heavy snow, or Wisconsin going to Alabama, or Western Michigan pulling the upset at Penn State. TV wants to two things. 1 Large programs going head to head and 2 Cinderellas pulling upsets. This gives you both.

I think every FBS conference winner should be in playoff like in basketball. Then in theory. any team in the FBS has a chance to win iy all, just like in hopps.

I support this as a way to settle it all, the FCS blueprint is there already.

I pushed for this EXACT, exact model nearly 10 years ago in a master's degree study. The results then would be the same today.

Viewership for this model tournament would be staggering. I'm for it, clearly.

I'm in the minority here but i like the at large, eye test aspect of college football. It's not fair sometimes, but it's what separates CFB from the No Fun League.

8 team playoff would be perfect. Make it 100% at large, with 1 spot guaranteed to the highest ranked G5 program, instead of the NY6 slot.

If we guarantee access to every champion, the regular season loses its value, and things like season ending OOC terrible losses become irrelevant.

Sounds like a pretty good idea. Imo, the at large bids should be seeded lower than all the conference champions. That way the conference champions can be ranked 1-10 according to rank first and then something like RPI ratings as a secondary measure. Same for those at large bids (though the secondary would never be used in this case). This keeps the P5 and the G5 happy with their overall playoff positions.

Terrible idea. Conference winners are in. Eye-test are for figure skaters and subject to bias. Eventually, G5 conferences will start getting more respect, better recruiting, more money, and the ability to hold onto their coaches longer because they are not eliminated from playoff consideration before Week 1.
Yours is a very short sighted model. As parity increases interest goes up. OOC is just as meaningful for those teams who do not win their conference and are seeking the "at-large" bids.
In your model you might as well just officially separate the G5 and P5 because the gap will continue to widen.

Why should a team from the AAC, let alone any other G conference miss out because of a difference in competition within conferences. The odds of any G5 school winning consistently and building their program is staggeringly low and keeps the bull**** caste system in place. Screw that

It will happen. People are not showing up to bowls. People are not watching them. Even the big bowls have Los their luster with the advent of the CFB NIT.

Whoever comes up with the FIRST NCAA College Football Tournament with 16 teams will make a bundle regardless of the NIT now in place. Right now even the Big 10 Champ is left out. The at-large teams and conference champs would be intriguing. This year's field would look like this, even with the CFB

You know nothing about CFB. The gap is widening exponentially, not getting closer.

10 team playoff. If you can't win your conference you can't win a national championship. 4 smallest budget/ lowest attendance conferences have play in game. Then you have a quarter / semi / final game.
